  • I'm not saying I WANT Dick Van Dyke to pass away, but the man did just turn 98.

  • My go-to is chump, because just imagine being called a chump. How could you ever recover.

  • [69ing intensifies]

  • I left the house, but only to drive over to my parents' place for food and presents.

On my way over I saw a drugstore and a Burger King open, everything else looked pretty closed.

  • A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs - This is one of my favorite podcasts, but I'm going to warn you it's not for everybody. The creator of this show, Andrew Hickey, is THOROUGH. A great example is the most reason episode about Hey Jude. Either you will love the concept of a 3.5-hour episode where 80% of the podcast is not about the song but rather the circumstances and lives of The Beatles, Yoko Ono, and the late 1960s music scene leading up to the creation of Hey Jude, or you will be furious that so much of the episode is about stuff that isn't the song.

  • YES, YES!

  • I thought Tinykin from last year was really good. A bit short, and certainly not the hardest game on earth, but still fun.

  • Ah, the SSC. I lived about 20 minutes from Waxahachie in the early 90s, cancelling the project messed up the local economy. My family's house was suddenly worth way less than when we had bought it. We wound up moving away in 94 and had to pay the difference.

I think a lot about what the area would have been like if the SSC had been completed (and how bad the traffic might have been).

  • A couple of blog suggestions:

Weird Fucking Games. Guess what that blog is about.

There's also Virtual Moose, who blogs about a bunch of stuff, but mostly retro and obscure indie games.

Finally, Indie Hell Zone. IDH isn't updated nearly as frequently as the first two, but there's still plenty of archives to go through.

  • The girls yelling "LITTLE DUST BUNNIES GO AWAY RIGHT NOOOOW!" from the original Streamline dub of My Neighbor Totoro is forever etched in my brain, so it's probably that.

  • You can have a friendly boss, but that doesn't necessarily mean your boss is your friend. Just remember there's always a power dynamic there, even if it feels like there's not.

  • Let me sand it down first! That wizard's got some rough edges.

  • The way things are going with TinyBuild, anything's possible. They just had some major layoffs last week.

  • Hell yeah Legs, my lil beanie baby buddy's sat on every iteration of computer desk I've had since like 1996.

  • The game is Bubblegum Crash: Knight Sabers 2034, but I'm pretty sure the text was added in later. There's a fan translation, but the font is different.

The picture itself is from a Cohost post.

  • What a cool idea, I can't wait

  • I am now sitting on the laptop my company gave for work, most likely breaking it. Which is unfortunate, but I can probably just request another.

  • Last year I started reading Tom Breihan's The Number Ones column on Stereogum from the very beginning. I finally caught up sometime in September and really enjoyed it. Keep in mind that since it's about the world of popular music and the people who make it, there can be some occasionally dark topics that show up in the articles, but they're not really lingered on.

As for singular articles, this one about a pedestrian bridge in Minneapolis is a fun one, if you like solving mysteries about seemingly pointless things.

And here's an oldie but goodie, an article from 2007 about a woman who accidentally finds out she's a world champion Tetris player.
