I spent years installing hardwood floors. Now when I see them, all I can see are the flaws. It's maddening.

In case anyone is wondering why they say stupid shit like this, it's because they need to be able to convince a whole lot of stupid people that being gay can be "cured", just as it can be caused. And the cure? Religion.

It's all a big scam.

Republicans, and apparently some Democrats, are still obsessed with limiting noncitizen voting, which is already illegal and exceedingly rare.

Murder is far more common than noncitizen voting, but I think we can agree that it would be a ridiculous waste of Congressional time to keep passing bills to make murder illegal.

You've also missed the point of the article, and really the point of the SAVE Act itself.

There are not 69 million noncitizens voting in elections. So even if you think we need a new law to crack down on noncitizen voting, the damage it causes far outweighs the problem it solves.

Especially now that so much of that pesky research has been defunded.

My girlfriend has a 15 year old daughter (I'm 49). I enjoy her company a lot. She's a great kid. The thought of any kind of romantic or sexual relationship with her turns my stomach. It should also turn your dad's stomach, and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with "I enjoy her company". But that's just my opinion. I don't know your family dynamics, and I know it's easy to preach about what I think should be done from the outside.

We already have a system that does that. It's called "immigration court", and the vast majority of them show up for it.

Nah, we have way too many people on record saying it was specifically about "illegal immigration", regardless of any other criminal history. They used that excuse every time an immigrant with no criminal record was deported. Letting them jump from base to base is a mistake. Catch them before they get there and shove their face in it.

I can't tell you why her parents would be okay with it, but I think you might want to ask your dad why he's okay with it. A tough conversation, for sure, and I think we all kinda know the answer, but making him say it out loud might begin the process to put an end to it.

We used to free climb cliffs. One of my step brothers took a pretty bad fall, about 60 feet down. He cartwheeled and banged against the cliff face, then landed in a sitting position. His right arm was torn open from armpit to elbow, and the bones were sticking out. Compound break. We had to walk him though about 2 miles of desert to get back to civilization and get help. He survived with no other major injuries, but that was a close one.

I used to go camping out in the desert by myself as a kid. From like 10 to 14 years old. I'd take a bow and arrows with me and just stay out there for a few days with my parents thinking I was spending a few days at a friends house. So much shit could've gone wrong, and sometimes it almost did.

Then there's the normal kid shit like playing with fire and chemicals, almost blowing ourselves up or burning everything else down.

People wonder why I never had kids and all I can do is think about all the shit I got up to as a kid. I don't need that kind of stress.
