  • Thats as best of a why as we got. Sometimes things don't have clear reasons or origins

  • For ADHD, very quick and easy (however I have been told that is not normal). I met with my PCP and said I wanted an ADHD diagnosis to get accomodations and emphasized I didn't want a prescription, cause I take enough meds as it is and would prefer to learn how to cope without the use of meds. I also explained to him my history grappling with my ADHD especially in school. The important thing here was showing it is a long time and consistent problem, one that exists in multiple settings (not just school, but at home, and work too). All of this made my doctor feel comfortable giving me the diagnosis. For autism, I haven't started the process yet, waiting on a referral cause my doctor wasn't comfortable diagnosing it.

If you want meds to help manage ADHD it will probably be a little harder to get the diagnosis, but I think as long as you establish that it is a long patterned history in more than just one setting, establish clearly why you want the diagnosis, and give detailed examples and stories of the symptoms (and maybe a little bit of luck) I think you should be fine.

I hope this eases your worries a bit and I hope it helped. Rooting for you.

  • As others have said, I think its important to include some level of accountability for moderators. Ways for the users to identify when a moderator is abusing their responsibilities and clear, fair, and accessible process for users to remove them from those responsibilities in a case of consistent abuse.

  • The closest thing an anarchist would ever advocate for in regards to an internal peacekeeping force would be some sort of community defense to defend against violent threats to community. But there would be ways to prevent it from becoming centralized and abusive. One way is by training everyone in the community in community defense and rotating the role. Their are other ways as well. But besides the point

  • I found out I was neurodivergent cause I became friends with a lot of people who are, and when I would talk about my experiences they would basically tell me its related to this or that disability. So I realized I was neurodivergent from my friends basically telling me I was. I came to accept it but never felt comfortable identifying as neurodivergent. Always felt I needed to specify "probably have ADHD" or "I probably have autism." Always felt like I needed to add plausible deniability to avoid being accused of self-diagnosing. Basically I wasn't confident enough. When I got my diagnosis I didn't feel like I needed to do that anymore. I could say with confidence "I have ADHD." It made my experiences in school feel real, and took away a lot of the guilt I felt for failing. I realized I was not the problem, I just wasn't getting the treatment I needed to succeed.

  • Admit it

    Jump
  • I have the nsfw blur setting off lol

  • I went my whole childhood without a diagnosis cause all the adults in my life kept kicking the can down the road saying I'd grow out of it. Didn't get diagnosed till this year, and I am about to be in my mid twenties. It was very validating to get the diagnosis. Gonna get checked for autism too

  • The issue was never the average person. Corporations have always been the issue. Even if everyone on the planet tried to live as green as possible, the corporations would still cause too much damage for us to undo. The only way the average person could have made an impact was by attacking the corporations and their means of polluting the planet. That meant sabotaging their facilities. But the climate change movement was too focused on peaceful protest, and there has been evidence that points the blame for this on the corporations once again. For everyone, the issue wasn't that they weren't willing to live green enough (which is true that most people just didn't bother, but it isn't what caused the issue of climate change in the first place and wouldn't have been the answer either), it was that they weren't willing to risk their life and privileges to dismantle the system that caused it. The threat of climate change was not imminent or tangible enough for people to take real action.

  • I am a huge Warhammer 40k fan and I once met someone who was also a 40k fan. Dude said he played Imperium cause he was (and he said this with zero irony) a "human supremacist." Genuinely though the Imperium were good guys. I feel like it's needless to say, but I stopped talking to him.

  • The Aeldar (along with the predecessor to the orks, the krorks) were created by the Old Ones to fight the necrontyr/necrons and the C'tan during the War in Heaven.

Also whether or not characters or legions deviate from the Imperium's ideology is unimportant as they are still supporters of a theocratic, xenophobic, authoritarian, ultra-militaristic, and ultimately fascist regime. This sort of argument that the Space Marines and such aren't fascists because they split away from the broader Imperium ideology is like when Nazis try to argue that the Wehrmacht were made up of average soldiers so not all of them were Nazis. Its irrelevant, they are still fighting to support a fascist regime which makes them a fascist. The only times Space Marines have ever actually split enough from the imperium to reliquish their loyalty to it is when they end up swapping to Chaos (which is just as bad, if not worse). My favorite faction, the Red Corsairs, being a perfect example of this.

Also the Orks are a charicature and parody of british hooligan culture.

  • I hate that nazis have adopted the DKoK. I love them because I really like the french inspired aspect of the design (like the trench coat) and I really love gasmasks. I got into 40k because of them and started an imperial guard army. But the amount of chuds that play them and the broader imperium grossed me out. Now I play chaos space marines (Red Corsairs (cause pirates) and Thousand Sons (cause I like magic and the drama)) and am gonna convert my imperial guard into chaos guard.

  • Love how they talk about being anti-sectarian and Hexbear being a place for anarchists despite them enforcing a strict platform that opposes anarchists. God I fucking hate tankies. "Oh you are welcome here as long as you follow our rules to a T and pretty much abandon all of your principles in favor of our authoritarianism."

  • As someone else said, they pay royalties. Secondly, because they are not costing musicians their jobs. DJs aren't stealing artists jobs, music labels aren't dropping musicians for DJs, and DJs are at least putting some level of effort to create something (which I will admit is debatable and the weakest argument).

  • 196 @lemmy.blahaj.zone

I have ADHD and this is conflict-seeking-rulehavior

  • Not illegal, just unethical. You effectively stole people's art and are profitting off of it. Considering AI is being used to take jobs from artists and writers by stealing their work, you are a scab

  • That's what the cover is for. The cover is your first impression of a book.

  • I think followers and chat are a good idea because I could follow my friends and share memes directly to them through Lemmy rather than have to download and share it externally. But besides that yeah

  • Copyright is stupid, but besides that I agree. We should be developing our own identity, not trying to copy reddit

  • Cops serve and protect capital, not you. There is never going to be a situation where law enforcement doesn't become authoritarian and only protect those in power. Law enforcements has routinely shown they are class traitors and have no qualms supporting corporations in crushing unions. Cops should not exist, let alone have unions, which will only ever be used to protect themselves from facing consequences and taking accountability. All WORKERS should be unionized. Cops are not workers, they are class traitors who wouldn't think twice about arresting you for trying to use your union to get better working conditions. 40% of cops are abusers, and they only solve 2% of crime. Studies show rehabilition and restorative justice as well as providing people with their basic needs is more effective at reducing crime and protecting people. Abolish the police, abolish prisons, ACAB
