If anything, I would think DoD has a vested interedt in protecting and supporting open source software so shit like xzutils doesn't happen again.

Who in the US government is going to do this? Who is going to have both the power to steamroll the fascists in the next several elections (assuming we still have them) and have the balls to tell the insurance companies to pound sand and convince 60% of the electorate that this would benefit them actually?

The list is short.

While dumpsters may be symbolic of much larger things, materially they are still only dumpsters.

Balkanization implies a solid geographical split between states, and in terms of the current political and cultural issues, there just isn't one. Yes there are red states and blue states, but the big cities in red states are extremely blue, and the rural areas in blue states are extremely red; the real divide is between cities and countryside.

If a second civil war does break out, it won't be a convenient split like the last one. It's going to be a lot of fighting within states and cities and suburbs and rural areas, with no clear geographical boundaries.

(As much as I'd like for the Midwest to be its own country I doubt it'll happen anytime soon. :) )

It's not Trump who scares me, it's who comes after. They may not have the sway over the base that he does, but at that point they won't have to.

Considering how the whole room laughed after Trump said to Bukele "You're going to have to build five more places"? I absolutely believe it. People have been so brainwashed by the propaganda machine, it's insane.

Look I would have been aight with Harris in '24, but in '28 if it's Harris vs. AOC or Sanders or Walz or Pritzker or freaking Liz Warren I'm sure as heck not voting for Harris.

ESOPs are pretty nice. It's not quite a worker cooperative, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Problem is, this is a completely incompetent and insane government, so these new institutions will be underfunded, unregulated, and poorly run. The result will be inmates being starved, beaten, tortured, neglected, and killed by by staff. I don't think it will be any better than what we have now.

Do any of these work as substitutes in baking recipes or batters?

There have been stories about artificially grown meat, but I wonder if we can artificially produce animal milk as well.
