Pretty minor, all things considered

No offence, but, is it just me, or does anyone else find the Connect for Lemmy app to be incredibly laggy?

I've been experiencing some seriously frustrating performance problems that are making the app almost unusable.

Initially, I assumed it was my internet connection, and/or my mobile device causing the slowdown.

However, after thoroughly checking my network speeds and stability, as well as my phone, everything seems to be running perfectly fine.

Yet the app continues to crawl, with:

• Slow page/post loads
• Potential UI responsiveness issues
• Images not showing before I tap on them, and then, when I DO tap on them, they are all super pixelated.
• When I assign my profile image via the Web, no matter the image, when I tap on the image to expand it, in this app, it is always super pixelated and crunched up.
• When I tap on the Communities that I moderate via the sidebar, I keep getting told that there are no posts, no matter which moderated community it is. But if I check the

When scrolling through the feed it randomly happens to skip a bunch of entries. It suddenly jumps far down the feed for no apparent reason.

Some observations and possible cause thoughts:

• I believe it skips one load batch (20) of entries.
• Scrolling up those entries gets me back to where I was in the feed.
• I think it happens when the last entry of a previous load batch expands an attached media item.
• It's more apparent in media heavy feeds.
• It's independent of the scroll speed.

Lots of stuttering.

Basically the title. I click a link and it takes forever to open. Doesn't matter the type of link. If I click a link multiple times then eventually N pages open all at once

Note: I only crosspost release info here when there are new features worth mentioning, so I copied over some of the notes from the previous release that I didn't post. Also, the image is just the only clearly visible new feature (formatting help/cheatsheet). I added that just so it would roll-up the two announcement posts into cross-posts.

This release brings a few bugfixes and several quality of life improvements. Also, mods are now able to see the votes on submissions to their communities (if their instance is on 0.19.4 or above).

Bugfixes

• [Bug/Annoyance] When highlighting text in the markdown editor and using the toolbar buttons (e.g. highlight a word and click "bold"), the text area would annoyingly scroll to the bottom. No longer does it do that.
• [Bug] Default moderation template had a missing piece (community) and didn't really make

When I click on an image the app just crashes. 100% of the time I have just installed the app and didn’t tweak any settings.

I am on an iPhone 8+ if this can be of any help.

I don't need any fancy tiling window managers. One fullscreen window per desktop, and 12 virtual desktops, that was my workflow for 10 years. Then I incorporated KDE activities into my workflow, which are exactly like virtual desktops but switched with Meta-Tab not with Ctrl-F1 - Ctrl-F12. Wonderful!

And then, Plasma devs broke it. Switching activities now puts my foreground fullscreen window (one per desktop) into background, and switches keyboard focus to the desktop. Give me back my keyboard shortcuts, and you could also rename Plasma back to KDE while you're at it, thank you very much.

At least there is a bug opened, but it's doubtful that Plasma devs will fix it before Debian 13 release. I can't even find motivation to update my OS anymore.

When the combined length of the username and the vote tally approaches or exceeds the width of the comment, the vote tally gets hidden behind the timestamp or pushed off screen entirely.

How do you manage to install packages/software on off-line[^1] device ?

I've heard of apt-offline but it seem to bug and I don't know if it's still maintained (last release two years ago)

of course I've tried manually but the dependencies relations are too crazy to do that fully manually

On the latest build here, but it’s been happening for a while now. There is no rhyme or reason, but now and then the default option reverts to all instead of my selection of subscribed. Not a huge issue but just putting it out there. Thanks for the great app!

I was able to comment in these threads from my PC via the Alexandrite frontend, but attempting to view those comments via Sync displays "Could not load post" with an option to Retry, which does not succeed.

Post 1 appears visible when opening the community, but opening the post displays the same error. Post 2 (the sh.itjust.works link which is posted on a lemmy.world community) the post does not appear in the community at all in Sync.

Confirmed that these communities/users are not blocked on my account, and no filters set within the app should apply to these posts either.

Long pressing on a comment has always collapsed it unless you were replying to the comment, then you could long press to highlight a string of text to quote for a reply.
Now, long pressing closes the parent in reply mode and there is no way to highlight text to copy for quoting purposes.

Just saw this while scrolling through. Seems to be dynamic as well. Longer names but not too long will start to add a circular frame around it.

In the past day or so, vote tallies ceased to be visible.

This can't be an instance issue, as other apps display the vote totals just fine.

Is there some setting which I accidentally toggled, or was there some update under the hood which broke this?

Anyone else encounter this issue?

Comment linked for example, and I’ll attach a screenshot below. Having an embedded link following an image seems to append the image’s instance to the start of the embedded link. The link is a 12ft.io link, but Voyager is automatically appending “lemmy.world” to the start of the link.

Could also potentially be an issue with 12ft.io links specifically, but I have seen it a few times with other links too.
