Incredible taste
My dad has been obsessed in recent years with switching Eve in the house to electric. He's mostly succeeded and that's all well and good. Until he bought an electric outdoor grill... My mom was on board with all the other changes except this. We all started calling him Hank Hill and saying "taste the meat not the heat".
Can anyone explain the reference here? I already love it but I sense it's more clever than I understand
Hank (from animated TV sitcom King of the Hill) famously sells "propane and propane accessories" (for grilling). Many grilled meat enthusiasts will tell you that propane is the inferior heat source for grilling, compared to charcoal.
As a Texan, well... We and the wife moved out of state somewhat recently, but I've nearly 36.5 years of my nearly 40 years there.
Texans can be opinionated. Very much so. Now, you'd hope its to protect about human rights, or consumer wellbeing, or whatever... no, its useless shit.
Such as, beans do NOT belong in chili, and fuck you otherwise. That kinda shit.
That also goes for things like what you use dead animal up to, temperature wise, to remove dangerous pathogens.
I've grilled. I've barbecued. And yes, they are different.
Grilling, charcoal gives a slightly more smokey flavor, but at the same time and easily lead to an "over charred" flavor of creosote. Creosote is that overly burned flavor some people can't stand on overdone, grilled meat.
Amazing.
