Be Aware of How Your Life is Being Monitored by Technology
Naomi Brockwell makes it easy and interesting to learn about how our personal lives are being spied on by potentially anybody. Share it with your friends and family so maybe one day every country won't have a social credit score or other dystopian outcomes.
This thumbnail does not inspire confidence in the quality of the content. It is a pure clickbait title screen.
So is just about every video created over the last few years. This is the new norm and can no longer be used to judge a bit of content. For better or worst.
The video itself is a good overview of what data brokers are and what they collect on you with some ways to help mitigate this. Honestly not very big news for anyone that is already into data privacy, but it will be very eye opening for anyone that is not already aware of what they collect.

Completely agreed, and is why I asked. The vast majority of youtube videos with these clickbait title screens (let's be honest, it's basically all of them) tend to not be worth watching, to me.
I appreciate your response, specifically, "Honestly not very big news for anyone that is already into data privacy". I'm deep into data privacy as I deal with it every day in my line of work, so I was curious if this was a deep dive or high level "for noobs".
Hopefully others see value in this video! But it sounds like it isn't for me.
I remember hearing someone talk about how you have to have those shitty kinds of thumbnails to get any decent visibility on YouTube. I’m not sure exactly how it works or if there’s any truth to it though.
I'm sure it's good and she seems legit, but I fucking hate videos. A blog post I could scan and read so much faster, as well as judge its legitimacy in seconds instead of having to invest minutes of my life.
So you won't believe that someone who is a credible person might use flashy clickbaity imagery unless random bozos on the internet tell you she's credible?
Very well put together video about how data brokers exploit our data and are used by governments, private investigators and officers to skirt around legal processes.
The video also briefly discusses an individual who searched one broker's database for themselves in 2014, and it practically pulled up data about their entire life and history, despite them not being terminally online... would rather not imagine what things are like now
I personally think, with Bill Gate push for Digital ID, for every single person on the internet will eventually must have a social credit score, I have no doubt this is coming.
As for this vid you shared, I want to remind people of the following browser extensions that will block majority of them, and I personally use. You can get them for firefox or chrome.
Many people drive drunk and injure people but people don't stop driving because of one way the vehicle can be used for bad. Sure, JWB is associated with the phrase but the Latin phrase can also stand on it's own merits too. I'm not a supporter of JWB in any way.
