The Nesting Box is $70 and it's a box designed to hold Wingspan and all it's expansions. I can see the use of such a thing because it's currently a bit of a pain setting up a game when the components are spread out over multiple boxes but I just don't think it's worth the cost.
The Nesting Box does not come with the base game or any expansions and is solely used to store those items.
Root is complex, so you need to have someone to really know the rules. But as soon everyone understand what its faction is supposed to do to win, it's pure pleasure!
Yes. Cats and birds are the main factions (the ones that focus on board control) others are opportunistic (takes situational benefits). 4 players is the best (2 area control faction + 2 others). 3 is cool too but could looks the same because you need the 2 area control factions at minimum.
If your group is 3 only. I recommend, if you had budget, to get one expansion that have another area control faction, for more variety.
Playing 3 with one single area control faction is less fun, IMHO.
I did scoop up Ark Nova before ever having played it lol, the deal was nuts. I did get a chance to play it at my LGS the following week and immediately felt good about the purchase. Grand ol time.
I am jealous, mine are still sitting in the queue. Last year it took almost a month.
Which day were you able to release the holds?
For impulse, I will guess some of the smaller ones since we tend to take more risks with those. Canvas and Radlands perhaps? (Both of those are great btw) And maybe Splendor Duel, guessing you already had regular Splendor so you were hesitant about getting Duel too.
I was able to release on the 14th, maybe a few minutes after 12 their time. One of the lucky ones!
And yep all the small ones were impulse. I’ve never played any version of Splendor but heard great things about duel, and at ~$13 pfft that’s basically free.
If you like Splendor and often play at 2 then Splendor Duel is definitely worth checking out. The new draft and new win conditions change things up quite a bit. I still like to go back to regular Splendor too though when I am in the mood for that pure Splendor goodness.
NerdzDay is an annual sales even by Gamenerdz, a US online retailer. It's very popular because they often include some very good deals and the store has a relatively low free-shipping threshold and an easy to use customer hold option (which means that they can can hold your orders until you pile up enough to qualify for the free shipping)
Radlands is a 2-player only card battler. You fight in multiple lanes and try to destroy each other bases. The cards have relatively simple abilities that can combo together and you can also use them for discard effects. Water is a resource used to pay for playing cards, managing your water and your card draws is very important. Cool art, good card quality, not too expensive.
