I find it strange that we consider them invasive. If an animal flies from one part of the country to another and sets up shop, that seems like a pretty natural process that shouldn't be interfered with to me (unless maybe a huge truckload of owls was brought out West which started the whole thing I guess).

They were identifying habitats of threatened/endangered owls in order to prevent logging in those areas. It was unambiguously positive work.
