It's been 2 months since the post about plans on simplifying the rules for this subreddit. As there was no new input, this is as good time as any to introduce the changes.
New rules are as follows:
- All posts TITLES must use a valid [TAG].
- A [TAG] needs to be used within the title of your post. This doesn't mean flairs, it means titles.
- Valid tags include: [Theme] [Icons] [Wallpaper] [Contest] [WIP] [Help] [Discussion] [Promotion]
- Title tags explained
2) Post your resources!
- Links to icon packs, wallpapers, widget packs etc are highly encouraged. Naming resources is required.
- OC KWGT/KLWP/Zooper files and other resources to be shared at creator's discretion.
- Resources need to be inluded in a top-level comment.
- You have 1 hour to post your resources.
- No piracy.
- Copyright infringement, distribution of intellectual work without the permission of the owner/author, or otherwise stealing is strictly prohibited. Don't ask or explain how to pirate something.
- No posting .apks.
- We can't verify the safety of loose .apks, so we cannot allow them
- Don't spam.
- Excessive posting or posting with an agenda is strictly forbidden.
- It's OK to be a redditor with a website, it's NOT OK to be a website with a reddit account.
- No off-topic content.
- Self promotion posts allowed once every Friday.
- All such posts require the [Promotion] tag in the title.
- No [Theme] posts with your apps.
- One [Promotion] post every Friday is allowed (starting GMT 0:00).
- All [Promotion] posts need to have app descriptions. It can't be just one sentence.
- Only apps relevant to Android customization
- Applies to paid and free apps via Play Store, PayPal, and other means of distribution.
- Be respectful.
- Provide constructive criticism.
- Treat others the way you want to be treated.
- Don't start pointless arguments.
Most notable changes:
- Links to resources are no longer required, but you still need to name the apps you've used.
- Self-promotion posts are still a Friday-only thing, but weekly updates aren't required anymore to make new posts. If you keep spamming the same update for half a year though, you will get punished for, well, spamming the same thing. So just be reasonable
- Low-effort setups will no longer be removed by moderators. It's not our call to make. You upvote what you like, you downvote low-effort content that you don't like. That's how it should have been.
- Giveaways are permitted, again. If a developer wants to share some codes for their app, they're free to do so. Just remember it has to be within a [Promotion] post because this is meant to promote an app.
- We've added a [Free] flair as an option. It will not work on it's own, and is meant to be used along with a [Promotion] tag to indicate there's a free app being promoted. This was brought as a suggestion by u/Apira-Prima here.
Hope those are changes for the better. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
