The AI chatbot is officially launching in Google Messages for beta testers.

Gemini in Google Messages is rolling out to beta testers gradually starting this week.
You can use Gemini in Google Messages just like the standalone Gemini app, except without image generation.

Sounds like yet another Google project that will be promoted heavily, before being unceremoniously dropped without any warning, leaving users in the lurch.
If they stick this at the top of my messages list like Snapchat does with their shit AI thing, I'm leaving.

Leave my messages alone.
- I already left the Messages app after the Shortcut Bar annoyance. This would have been another death knell to me that the app is past its prime.
And what if didn't want Gemini on my device at all?
