Can't remember if its was 22 short or long but mythbusters did an episode on dieing to using 22 as a stand in for a glass fuse. Completely plauseable

I'm pretty sure there was an honorary darwin award given to a man who used a live .22 round to put in place as a fuse in his car. The angle was apparently just right to have the bullet hit both balls.
Well, the rating says 350A and I seriously doubt you woul've had an industrial grade furnace in your old house.
I'm absorbing this info because it will probably be beneficial in a future adventure game as a puzzle solution.
