Been playing 🏴☠️ Palworld, I'm surprised online functions flawlessly! Also some notes for would be downloaders
Although playing online works, I haven't tried a direct connection/invite with another person, due to me lacking PC master race friends.
In the general server list, I think the SA region stands for South America? In any case, my ping was really high, so actually playing online is not feasible for me.
I'm using IGG games' torrent version, it was a simple extract and run. The fake steam account name defaults to NooB, so I recommend you change it in the following folder: %appdata%\Roaming\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves\settings - The account_name.txt is just the shown name, while the user_steam_id.txt is the acc number. I've changed both. Keep in mind that changing the id might make your saves disappear, so you'll have to create a new world, then copy over the save files - %appdata%\Local\Pal\Saved
If you're a fan of survival crafting, this game is a must play. The fact that you can play solo and change the world settings (exp rate, stamina depletion, hunger, etc) anytime before entering makes it perfect for all skill levels. I just think the default capture rate is too low, but I guess it makes more sense when you're online in a guild?
No idea how many hours I've spent playing, but I'm definitely buying this game in a few months.
I bought it. It's good enough to deserve the money. Especially one of this quality. Already got more than 80 hours in it, and I'm not even through 1/4 of the map. It's already earned it's price.
I considered buying it, I tried it out on Gamepass first, and alas it crashed 5 times with illegal memory access errors before I could even get past character creation haha.
I'm looking forward to trying out the game, I just can't afford to buy the full thing at the moment, and will have to wait until they've patched out the more serious bugs.
Which is fine of course! I'll just wait 6 months or so, and come back to it then _ If I'd paid money for it I'd have been upset, but as it stands I'm good.
I'm on steam and the game hasn't crashed once in the near week of owning it. Haven't had any data loss bugs or anything either. Whereas all my pals on gamepass/xbox/microsoft store version have...
Yeah, the game can crash a lot, I'm on v0.1.2.0. One even fucked up my save, with the crash happening during the loading screen. Luckily, I've managed to restore an earlier save, lost about 10 minutes of progress, so no biggie.
Other crashes I've had happened while entering cave dungeons, after sending a pal to battle, activating a special ability, attacking human enemies...
Man I loved the Enshrouded demo, and was waiting for it to come out… then this Palworld comes out of nowhere and sucks up all my freetime. And THEN I forgot that Enshrouded was coming out this week, so like… I guess I won’t be playing that just yet 😅 did it turn out to be as good as the demo made it seem?
Enshrouded's voxel terrain and build system is really amazing, tbh. I'm not so sure their storyline or gameplay loop is great just yet. I've got a couple of friends that play it, but I couldn't afford it just yet. I'll probably pick it up in a couple of days if I can manage to muster up the cash. So far Palworld has taken me off of ARK: Survival Ascended - which I got gifted to me. So I've been pretty happy not dealing with Wildcard's bullshit. Other than that, my other entertainment is pirated switch games.
I think overall Enshrouded might end up holding more of my attention in the long run. Palworld's max cap is like level 50 and it seems pretty linear of a grind. I expect in 2 weeks or so I'll be done with it.
A friendly reminder that not everyone makes an equivalent living, especially not in USD, and that feeling of "eh, give them $30, guys" could come across as "eh, give them more than you make in a week" 😅
If you make less than $30 in a week, you likely aren't on lemmy. I won't go into how much I make, but I probably make less than 99% of people on here. Difference being how I managed my money when I did have it so I set myself up to not have to pay rent, power, etc. Most things I do are pre-paid a year in advance to save money (for example, did you know you can get smartphone service for like $150 for the whole year?)
iirc IGG releases actually dropped crypto miners for a while, lost their trusted status at /r/crackwatch over it. i would rather not download something at all if my only option were IGG.
Right now, yes. Some servers are already running 1 version higher, haven't tried connecting to them yet. You can also play on Community servers, just check the left part of the screen for the button, I've had better latency on them.
But it doesn't function flawlessly, at least not yet. I know of one pretty big online networking bug that affects me -- You currently cannot connect directly to a password-ed server (by IP), it won't prompt for the password and it simply denies entry. And since the multiplayer server browser is pure garbage, you can't even properly search for the password-ed server because the search only filters the current page you're on, and even pagination is flat broke.
This game has a lot to get fixed. This is my major hit list that I'd like to see fixed/enhanced:
Fix it so a client can directly connect to a server that requires a password without having to use the server browser
Fix the server browser so pagination works properly
Fix the server browser so keyword searching actually filters across all registered servers, not just the currently-loaded page
Fix the server so when purposefully not registering as a public server, it doesn't show in the server list (my private server is not supposed to be listed, but I had a random stranger connect...and since I cannot password the server yet due to the bug listed above, they got on and built stuff before I could kick them -- and I cannot destroy anything they made)
Enhance it so an admin can destroy all content irrespective of guild
Fix the in-game chat so it actually scrolls properly and can be user-scrolled up and down
Fix the pal AI and pathing, it's atrocious
Enhance it so you can dedicate a specific pal to a specific job
Fix it so party pals will properly attack incoming raids outside of the base circle
Enhance it so storage bins can be labeled (without having to use signs)
Enhance it so if there is a security code on a door or storage box, it doesn't allow other guild members access without knowing the security code (this would require a level of ownership to each crafted item)
Enhance it so stacks can be divided by an arbitrary user-defined number instead of only by half
Enhance it so signs can be placed on foundation pieces
Fix it so pals that fight intruders cannot destroy buildings and other crafted/placed items
Fix it so wooden "security" walls are are not so easily destroyed by a simple pal invader
Fix it so other pals and players cannot become invisible
Fix it so in-dungeon bosses cannot use an ability that would place them outside the arena, thus requiring restarting the fight (in other words, fix the collision detection so properly bound the boss to the arena)
