Maine is the second state to block the former president from running again under a part of the Constitution that prevents insurrectionists from holding office.
Good that states are removing this traitor form the ballots, bad that it’s not happening on a national level. I have zero faith in America as a nation and no longer look at it as one because of this. It’s simply just a landmass divided into separate states now.
Fuck America as a nation for not doing what they should’ve done all along. They’ve proven what’s important- and holding traitors accountable apparently isn’t.
If the Supreme Court shuts this down, I can honestly see the next step being states attempting to leave the United States and break up the nation. We're seeing what happens when people finally get sick of the corruption
I don't know where you're getting your info that that seems even remotely possible. If it did happen, Russia and China would be so pleased that their efforts to fan the flames of American politics led to such an utter self-defeat. None of us should want that.
Unlike the similar action in Colorado, this could actually take electoral votes away from Trump. Trump was never going to win in Colorado, but Maine divides it's 4 electoral votes (somewhat) proportionally. In 2016 and 2020, Maine gave 1 vote to Trump. It would have to be a really tight race for that to matter but it might just matter.
