Has stims/uppers ever made you deeply and intensely desire to be a capitalist?
Had a weird ass episode for like 5 minutes where all the thoughts were just constantly screaming to start a company to obtain wealth and the desire permeated throughout every fibre of my being
Either this shit is bringing out and magnifying my inner or something about stimulants effect on the CNS is triggering the desire for money since they both target the same area of the brain apparently source
Easily one of the weirder things to have happened wtf
I actually get the greatest business ideas when I’m really stoned. Like, how about this one: A Netflix sitcom starring Godzilla and his family that’s sort of a light hearted family comedy but they also regularly destroy cities. I would call it “The Godzillas”. People would love that shit.
Can the Godzillas be nonverbal and just shrieking at each other and using laser breath and wrestling in cities the whole time? But also they have everyday troubles like a bully at school who is annoying baby mechagodzilla, etc.
I've never gotten for business ideas while high but I do have some solid ones sober just cause it's a common bit for tech bros to ironically pitch each other stupid startup ideas with detailed plans
to be fair - it is a good racket to have I guess. You can hire the worst fucking employees at the shittiest rate you can legally pay them to sit at the gate and you can charge $25.00/night per car! No I'm not bitter about the last time I had to park in a 24 hour garage and literally could not get into the lot at 2:30am when I was trying to leave because the gate employee was nodding off in someone's car (I get it though, I would too if I was getting paid minimum wage to work the 12am-8am shift in a 24hr lot -- but AT LEAST LEAVE THE CAR WINDOW OPEN SO YOU CAN HEAR ME RINGING THE BELL AND SHOUTING 'HEEEELLLOOOO' LIKE A MANIAC AS I SHAKE THE GATE LOUDLY LMAO)
Ultimately we're a product of our material conditions and our current material conditions are liberalism realised so don't take this as a personal attack but I'm not surprised that a stimulant made you feel like you could conquer the world and our natural instinct is going to be to conquer the world via liberal means. In short, that basically means coming up with plans of starting a million dollar company.
If you were part of a revolutionary vanguard in the early 1900s in Europe then you probably would have drawn up plans to kick off the revolution instead.
I wouldn't stress too much about being a so crypto a lib that not even you are aware of it until you're on stimulants. I'd just take it as being a reflection of your current circumstances and where the most available pathways for achieving success exist currently.
Obviously, join a party and get involved in building the movement to develop yourself ideologically etc. etc. but also don't waste time worrying about this experience. If you were living under feudalism you'd probably have aspired to marry above your station to a lord or lady to join the landed gentry but instead you had an expression of petit-bourgeois aspirations because we live under capitalism. It's only when we have eradicated the material basis for the existence of the petit-bourgeoisie that we could expect to see petit-bourgeois aspirations like this withering on the vine, just like how marrying a dutchess or a viscount isn't on your radar today.
There's a trap that you can fall into once you're radicalised by assuming that since you've got the right position that therefore by extension there's no longer a lib inside your head when really there's a lib inside all of our heads and undoing a lifetime of liberal indoctrination is one major, ongoing project.
If you're peeling back the layers of liberalism in yourself then it means that you're moving in the right direction. Keep it up!
No but MXE made me go out, take some community college classes and find an office job. The stuff disappeared from the markets overnight and I suddenly woke up to this life I hated, except I finally had health insurance so I just kept living it.
Stay off of gray market dissociatives because the Chinese government might shut down the wrong lab one day and it will fuck up your entire shit.
MXE has dopaminergic effects and it's an NMDA antagonist.
Obviously this isn't a call to chase the high or anything but if you noticed a significant improvement in depressive symptoms or your ability to do executive function-related stuff (organising yourself, staying on task, remembering things, task initiation etc.) which made life easier for you then there are other options available.
On the NMDA antagonist side of the equation, this would be where you'd find the relief in depressive symptoms, there are a range of medications that can achieve this same effect (to a lesser degree although over time it will work just fine) or there is some evidence that indicates that endogenous NMDA antagonists are surprisingly effective - Vitamin C and creatine (the workout supplement) are two cheap options which are very safe and very well researched examples of this.
On the dopamine side, this is mostly the improvements to executive function and if that's the case then I'd recommend exploring the possibility of ADHD. There are less options available for dopamine agonists outside of the classical stimulants however there's anecdotal reports about the supplements L-dopa, tyrosine, and brahmi being useful here.
(Obviously this stuff is complicated because depressive symptoms often have negative impacts on executive function and, conversely, poor executive function can resemble and even be a causative factor for depression so teasing out the root of the issue can be a lengthy process and it's something which is way above my pay grade...)
If you wanted to get an all-in-one NMDA antagonist with dopaminergic effects with a very minimal side effect profile, amantadine is probably the best bet here. There's some evidence that indicates amantadine is about as effective as methylphenidate (Ritalin) for treating ADHD. Getting your hands on amantadine might be somewhat of a tricky process although it's pretty safe and it doesn't have a risk of abuse or addiction - I'd either level with a prescribing doctor and tell them exactly what you're fishing for and why or I'd play the angle that you're looking to treat symptoms of anxiety.
I definitely appreciate that! I'm currently on amphetamine and a low dose of SNRI with the goal of getting off my meds completely to see what that's like for a while, but I'll keep that in mind should we decide to go the other direction.
I'm a square and a loser and I don't use "hard" stims/uppers. I drink a lot of caffeine and drink amino acids. I do this to stay up late to hit the gym and then come home and program my projects in Godot until about 1 or 2 AM. I think caffeine helps me stay up to explore my creative self.
