Carlos Sainz Snr. has confirmed he will not be standing in this year's FIA Presidential elections, citing that his "present circumstances are not ideal" to stake a candidacy.

Running for the Presidency would have adversely affected his preparations for the Dakar Rally, and Sainz says he does not wish to compromise on his commitment to the event and his team.
