There's coffee in those Kazon
What's a little war crime when there's coffee on the line?
I was unaware the Kazon were signatories to the Treaty of Bajor
Fun will now commence.
Janeway can violate the prime directive a bit — as a treat.
I wonder what the ratio is for Prime Directive Violations vs. Janeway Drinks Coffee in an episode.
Would more coffee consumed in an episode correlate to less Prime Directive violations... or more? 🤔
More coffee would probably be more violations. Less coffee would be more war crimes.
The " long journey home from strange lands" conceit of this show was so great.
Sadly not fully realised. Imagine Year of Hell as an entire season. Battle Damage, wear and tear, limited resources (looking at you shuttles and delta flyer 2) and limited personnel.
Could you imagine the fan backlash for the season finale for what was essentially "it's was all a dream" would be?
No need to imagine, we have BSG
I would have also loved to see them go full ship of Theseus and have the entire ship and crew replaced by various repairs and refugees they picked up along the way. So by the time they got "home" not only would they be seeing it for the first time, but that what made it home was the Federation culture that the original crew embodied.
Anyway, that in particular story would never happen in the visual mediums.
I get the impression that this is hard to do right. I am so incredibly thankful that the Battlestar Galactica reboot went there for pretty much the entire series, and did a great job. Heck, I even cared about the ship by the time it was all done. Meanwhile, Stargate:Universe screwed it up at every opportunity.
IMO Voyager, as both a crew and as a ship, should have been unrecognizable by the end of the voyage. I'm talking all sorts of exotic tech bolted to the hull, a greater Delta Quadrant crew compliment, crew diet of hydroponics from very distant worlds, and maybe even a few additional ships in formation. They even bothered to mention the bio-electronic ship systems in the flippin' pilot, which could have turned into a sentient starship or something. It could have been epic.
EDIT although I argue that it was very well realized if you consider the constraints they were working within.
Imagine Year of Hell as an entire season.
I've heard that observation before, and it's truly tragic how close this show got to being truly legendary.
Reminds me of how much woker DS9 could have been, too.
Small minds have always tried to constrain trek into a safe little sci-fi tv show box. Sad.
Its not the journey but the borg we pick up along the way.
