Zohran Mamdani Announces Protection Plan For LGBTQ+ New Yorkers

1. Expanding and protecting gender-affirming care citywide – Zohran proposed an immediate investment of $65M in public providers for medical treatment and promised to keep hospitals accountable.

2. Making NYC an LGBTQIA+ sanctuary city – The mayoral candidate promised to “strengthen and uphold the rights of queer and trans New Yorkers through multiple sanctuary protections.”

3. Creating the Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs – Zohran noted that while Eric Adams left one person to manage LGBTQIA+ city programs, his wish is to “expand and centralize the services, programs, and support LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers need across housing, employment & more.”
