OK but this is pretty funny. If this is how the new pope rolls, I'm here for it.

I'm not Catholic and don't really care who the Pope is but I know that MAGA doesn't like him. That makes me like him.
- I went to Catholic school and most of my friends parents would have been democrats, were it not for abortion. If the new pope can convince those Catholics to stop supporting republicans, it’s a win.
- He's still a senior member of the catholic church and is complicit in covering up their sex abuse of children, but at least he seems to be fairly not-fascist about most other topics.

But the media is going to split coverage. There will be very direct comparisons of crowd sizes. Some people will have to decide which event to attend, as they can't attend both.

If he wasn’t a sexist and a homophobe I’d actually like that guy. But Catholics have a long history of misrepresenting scripture to suit their political purposes, and centuries of bad habits are hard to break.

The scriptures themselves are misogynistic and homophobic. The religion is rotten.

Two-Scoops wanted this parade in his first term, but the military told him the roads in DC wouldn't take the weight or something. Apparently he wanted it so bad he made somebody find a city where it would work. edit: my bad, I assumed he was having the parade in Chicago, it will be in DC - where the army says it will do $16 million in damage to the streets. This has been factored into the $45 million price tag. Fun trivia: this is enough to build 3 new typical size high schools - but at least we know it's for a good cause! Happy Birthday, Taco Boy.

I’m all for the complaints but no way you build a high school for that little these days. You might be surprised just how expensive all the services can be.
While I do live in a large town in a high cost of living state and we got one with all the fixings, our just finished new high school was

Most will be cheaper but not anywhere near as cheap as you expect
- Well yeah, you can spend as much as you want, but according to what I looked up the average cost of a TYPICAL high school (I was careful to use that word) was $7-8 million in 2024.

My mother is so happy to have tickets for this.
