  • Unpopular, maybe, but I agree with OP. When I finally counted up all the caffeine I was consuming, I found I was over 1500mg/day.

I switched to caffeine-free drinks the next day, and tapered down to 200mg in the mornings.

Apparently, I shouldn't try to explain this to people IRL.

  • 4, yes you can, haven't you never heard of measures? Or do you just not know how to do math in your head based on how much you've had?

Volumetric dosing is more accurate than crumbs of pills, as long as you have a homogeneous solution and know it's strength.

3 swallowing pills is more boring and most people like a liquid to go with it, so you're gonna have to have a drink anyway

2 that depends a ton on the coffee and where you're buying caffeine pills from

1 practice dental hygiene and moderation of consumption.

If you're doing it just for the caffeine, you have a caffeine addiction. For me, I drink coffee because I enjoy it. The caffeine I can take or leave, and often do.

This year I've enjoyed every single cup of coffee I've had; all three of them.

  • Meh, I travel a fair bit, and go hiking quite a lot, and keep a little pouch with a bunch of essentials in it, in my bag. Among those things are some caffeine pills. They're light, cheap, and easily accessible when I need them.

I was never a coffee fan, but I do drink tea, and sometimes that experience is just plainly more pleasant than popping a pill.

  • Teas contains more psychoactive ingredients than just caffeine, including some with stabilizing effects to knock down that jittery unpleasant part. Broad spectrum stimulants are better than straight caffeine.

    • Broad spectrum stimulants are better than straight caffeine.

Eh, I disagree. Coffee has even more psychoactive chemicals than tea, making it an even broader spectrum... But caffeine and tea doesn't bother my stomach, coffee does.

  • Well, I love coffee but at the moment I'd better avoid caffeine, thus I'm drinking a lot of decaffeinated. What I mean, coffee isn't just about caffeine.

  • What's for dinner tonight honey?

McDonald's At-Home Nourishment Cube 2.0! Now available in green flavor!

Oh boy, I was getting tired of red flavor!

  • By the same logic, Soylent is better than food...

Except you're forgetting that it's about the enjoyment of the whole experience, not just getting caffeine into your body as efficiently as possible. That would be an IV drip.

edit: I've just realised where I am. Well played, excellent content, 10/10, take your upvote

  • Caffeine pills are probably a lot easier to accidentally overdose on. If you make coffee you can see the beans for yourself and have a rough idea of how much caffeine you could be getting (if imprecise). With pills you have to take the manufacturer's word for it. Maybe one of them decides to cut corners and put way less caffeine than they say, you think you've been taking X milligrams of caffeine and know how you react to it, but then try a different brand and get surprised with way more than you were expecting. Not to mention how it's easy to take a bunch of pills as opposed to the more time consuming and unpleasant process of brewing and drinking large volumes of coffee, which isn't something an unaware person can easily do by mistake.

  • I quit coffee and most caffeine. I still enjoy a decaf coffee, no milk, no sugar, about once a week.

I had a red bull about a month ago when I needed to drive about six hours in one day. It kept me alert.

  • I will add in my own twist:

Caffeine pills are better than those shitty MiO caffeined water flavor squeeze bottles.

    1. MiO is stupid expensive and owned by an evil megacorp.
    2. Black plastic isn't recyclable.
    3. Dosages are standardized for caffeine pills. If you squeeze thr MiO too hard and don't notice, you're gonna have a bad time.
    4. You can wash it down with any flavor liquid you choose, not just chemical fruit flavor.
