Ben & Jerry’s co-founder arrested after disrupting Senate hearing with pro-Gaza protest

oh hell yeah. Ben was always the good one, he came to my school and talked about how selling out to evil ass Unilever allowed them to actually do a lot of charity work. Jerry was nowhere to be found.

Fuck NBC for labeling their protest as "pro Gaza" instead of the much more accurate "anti-genocide". I realize that our media is almost entirely owned by like 12 billionaires, but it still chafes.
- The clip I saw was him yelling about feeding kids in Gaza and pointing out that they were stripping Medicaid from poor kids here. It's such a deceitful way to frame it.
- They stopped saying pro-hamas so we might get there, one day..
  
  Saying “pro-Gaza” in my opinion is code for bigot. At this point there is nothing you can do to justify why those people have to be killed. No reason to justify why they can’t have land to live on. No reason why caring about fellow humans is a the wrong side.
  If you are defending the right for the state of Israel to commit genocide (which apparently isn’t the worst crisis on this planet according to a BBC kyron from April I saw quoting the UN; it was about Sudan I believe) by continuing to wipe out Palestinian people, for existing, you are not a good person.
  Therefore, switching pro-Hamas to pro-Gaza is literally acknowledging that they are no longer covering up the lie. These people used to lump everyone in with Hamas when there is historical evidence that the Palestinian people are not a monolith which supported the terror group. In fact there is historical evidence that politicians in Israel have always meant for the two groups to be equated. All the label changing does is tell you that they have hatred for people living in Gaza.
  The same applies to Israel and the Jewish people. Just because someone does not agree with the actions of the Israeli government and/or military, does not mean they have hatred towards Jewish people. That unfairly puts actual Jewish people into a group of antisemites. Being anti-Israeli ≠ antisemitism. Being anti-Jewish = antisemitism.
  I really wish the world could be a place where humans were respected as individuals who should exist because they are all different. Instead history shows that lots of us believe humans should only be respected as individuals because they are the same. No. We should respect each other because we are different. That doesn’t mean I need to like you or accept what you do as a person. But your existence should be seen as beautiful. I should be able to celebrate the fact you are different from me in many ways. We don’t have to get along but you as a person belong here. No one should tell you that your race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, political beliefs, etc. mean your kind should cease to exist. I’m not saying that you need to love the bigot that lives next door, but that you can respect that they exist and that there are many more people who are uniquely different.

  We will get somewhere, but I'm not sure it'll be a good place. Here's my prediction of how it will go:
  Once Gaza and the West Bank are fully and exclusively populated by Israelis and American tourists, once the Palestinians have all been slaughtered or run out of their own country, once all the dust has settled and resort hotels have been built on top of all the mass graves, then and only then will our news agencies finally refer to what happened as a genocide. Some well-known news anchor will look into the camera with weary eyes and a little ribbon pinned to their lapel, they'll take on a somber tone, and they'll say "never again". Someone will win a Peabody for the story. And just as society starts to believe those words, "never again", the history of those events will be banned from schools and libraries, and those teaching it will be fired and jailed. The memo will come down from corporate and that same news anchor will again appear on TV. They'll look into the camera with a sparkle in their eye, flashing their overly white news anchor smile, and talk about how all the trans people being rounded up and put into camps is definitely not a genocide, and saying so means you hate God.

  The parent company that bought them a while back, Unilever, sucks though. Part of their agreement included making sure they wouldn't interfere with their political activism.

- In march, Unilever (B&J's parent company) fired B&J's CEO because he was expressing too many activistic opinions on social media. They're a bunch of hippies. Than they sued Unilever and they got their CEO back. Now the founder is getting arrested.

  Y'all missed the years right after Citizens United when Ben & Jerry were selling stamps to mark up dollar bills in red ink that said things like "corporations aren't people." It's illegal to use them, but I sure did! I also loved getting change back at the grocery store that other people had already stamped.

  I don’t remember the exact debate but Unilever (who purchased the brand at some point) is trying to make changes but the company is supposed to have its own say per their agreement.

If you watch the video the cops assault the protestors which is so crazy. I get you can remove the people and am not surprised cops acted this way it's just so disgusting to see.
