What stops the students from renouncing the protests (under duress) and then just getting back into them once they have degrees?
Although, I'd like to think that any student who defies NYU's demands will fare much better in the long run than a university that kowtows to facists
- They can just revoke their degrees... Sounds insane, but it happened already to other protesters in the US.
  
  Wow, I had not heard about this but it certainly delegitimizes other degrees that weren’t revoked.

  Probably the fact that if the NYU staffers pushing this are any smart, they'll withhold the degrees for a few weeks (maybe even months) after the exam or until the protests die down anyway. Sure, they're bound to do something incredibly stupid right after, but they've got what they've got.

  Yeah I had a right-wing friend who called me a nazi on facebook. Later he started texting me saying he was sorry and didn't mean it. That was one of the last straws. Dude was always a prick but he became absolute fash as an adult. Unfriended.
