Discussion: Samsung kills the MicroSD card slot for their latest Midrange/Budget A-Series phones. What do you think about the future of MicroSD Card Slots? Will other manufacturers all follow suit?

Not exactly "news" but the recent Samsung Galaxy Ax6 phones (A26, A36, A56) all does not have the MicroSD card slot, only the Galaxy A16 still has it.
I fucking hate this. I love having a mini-TV with me. I can load up a Terabyte of TV shows I love rewatching. You know, maybe you travel or something. Also, good for recording like a lot of videos. Now, new Samsung phones cannot do that anymore.
Sorry for the rant, but honestly, I have to vent: Fuck Samsung. Fuck this capitalist bullshit.
I'm thinking of stop buying Samsung for the future, but honestly, other manufacturers might follow suit, so it ultimately might not matter. I hate this bullshit. I will carry a portable SSD if I have to, I ain't buying your stupid cloud. I'm broke AF and I don't got no money for subscriptions. (Also, they could hold your data hostage and refuse access for random "ToS" violations)
What are your thoughts? What's the future of MicroSD card slots in phones?

What's most annoying is that midrange phones do not have that much storage to begin with. I tend to keep my phones for 3-5 years and storage always becomes an issue before the battery (even when all photos live in the SD card) because apps require more with every update. I can't imagine having both media and apps in internal storage.

I stopped buying Samsung phones after one model had a known issue they did nothing about.
Motorola has been my new brand of choice. They still have headphone jacks and SD card slots.
Edit: if you have a reliable data plan on your phone you can download your media (music, TV, movies) onto a computer running Jellyfin. Then use Tailscale to open it up to your phone wherever you go. It's hosting your own "cloud" for free. I do this for TV but I still keep an SD card full of music for offline use.

Because I generally travel within the UK, it's rare for me not to have an internet connection so to be honest I've not really cared for a SD card for a fair while now. I understand in places like the US / Aussieland they're a godsend to some but I'm fairly ambivalent on the subject now.
And having a ridiculous amount of storage on tap from a couple of NAS's accessible via Tailscale, and my last three phones having between 256GB-512GB internal storage SD cards are pretty much relegated to other devices like my drone/GoPro etc. edit: I suppose another thing that fills the void for me if I do need extra storage on my phone is I can just plug one of these into the USB port from my keyring, and I've then got unlimited replaceable storage?
Don't get me wrong, I think it's stupid doing away with it and other things like IR blasters / headphone jacks and, more irritating to me? Notification LED's. My Nexus One had one, my Mi A1 and Cubot had one but I can never understand why they ain't a standard thing across the board.
- I don't think any of my phones had an SD slot for about 10 years and I don't really miss it. Of course on phones with a small 64GB it can be useful.
  
  My backup phone / last daily driver had one, and I did use a SD card in it simply for another place to backup my DCIM folder as part of my 3.2.1 backup, but I did always wonder why I bothered because if I did lose the phone the SD card goes with it, making it pretty moot.
  Still, I am of the notion that there's never enough backups.
