Although Biden and the democrats definitely did not handle the situation ideally at all, the current escalation with this can only be put at the Republicans and the current administrations feet.
In saying that it was still a mistake to have voted Trump in at all.
I get what you're saying, but the Republicans wouldn't have had the OPPORTUNITY to escalate like this if not for the previous administration(s) further normalizing persecution of anti-genocide speech and lost the election partly because of Harris refusing to distance herself from that.
I am leaning towards them doing this regardless of what the Democrats did. Look at all the other norms that they have broken that was not preceded by something that Biden or Democratic administration did.
What allowed and gave them the courage to do this was their confidence that they could act fast enough to enact project 2025 andnhabing all the pieces in place like the supreme court.
That's exactly the reason why laws for more surveillance, more repression, harsher sentencing, etc. are ALWAYS a trap. They can always redefine what makes you liable. And at some point they will.
Republicans are always moving more to the right, while democrats are always ignoring their progressive side, while also moving more to the right, as the moderate side attempts to meet republicans in "the middle ground," a target always moving to the right.
