  • Sigh. You know how there are some people whose company somehow makes you feel more alone? I feel like that's this person I hung out with this evening... I basically felt like I was her uber driver. I have never liked the fact that she's 50% of the time on the phone when hanging out with me, in the past it was because I was helping her out with stuff but now I'm kinda done. The last straw was when we were supposed to have fish and chips after the sunset and she said she'd shout me, but then later on when I asked her where she'd like to go she said actually she has cramps and she doesn't want to eat. I think I'm really ready to let this one fade away (which is sad given I don't have many other friends but oh well)

Just enjoying my own f&c at home now, gonna rewatch last week's The Pitt and then enjoy this week's.

    • Yeah, you can just let some friendships go.

    • she’s 50% of the time on the phone when hanging out with me

I am 100% with you there.

    • That’s really rude if they spent that much time on the phone when they’re hanging out with you.

Drop them and don’t look back.

    • Literally using you. That's not a friend.

    • So you drove her around and she was supposed to reciprocate with F & C and then ducked out. And she does this all the time?

not cool and does she do this to her other friends

because while you are a friend to her she is not a friend to you

      and so many hugs

I hope the DT can be your internet friends 😘

      • I think she's better with her other friends but tbh... I really don't have that much in common with her other than some mutual acquaintances from uni. Her likes and personality are totally different from mine. I think I bore her too but I'm not about to be a doormat about it either. Probably better for us both to let things go.

    • 50%? The body language of that just stinks on ice. Time to let go I think too.

      • I don't know if it's also a young person thing (one of my very few friends more than 2 yrs younger than me) but I will say I always make it a point not to be on my phone when I've specifically arranged to be with others - it really saddens me when others don't reciprocate. Maybe it's how others feel comfortable around their friends but it doesn't work for me.

  • just got home five minutes ago. Hot. Had half a small eskimo pie, will reheat some curry and veg for dinner. Then make the cat tree and get Ted's scratching mat. Fix the washing machine. Then I might have that bath.

I did wash the floors at the old place, cleaned inside all the cupboards and got the scuffs off the walls. Oven isn't perfect but it's ok. It looks as good as it can.

good bye house, it's where i endured the covid lock down and had a bit of a life at uni and lygon st. 😿 It's where Bill and Ted came to join my little family. It's also where I cemented a really good relationship with Miss Seagoon and got to know Young Mr Seagoon very well. 😊

  • I went back to Resource Rescue craft supplies today, with a focus on getting soft fabric and things that can double as packing material for my move. I did manage a decent amount of fleece, and some felt squares that should work well between plates.

I also ended up with a couple of pieces of fabric that look like the stuff they use to cover bus and train seats - it should work well to re-cover Miss Meows tower which is getting a bit tatty. The blue won't really match anything else in the house, but you can't have everything.

Edit: Miss Meow has tested the fabric and seems to approve.

    • Don't recognise the specific but that does look fairly bus seat. Which is a great advance on RSL floor 😝

  • Here's an important question that no one asked for.

Which shoe do you put on first left or right?

i'm a lefty and put the left first but it just dawned on me it doesn't make a difference.

    • I just put them on one at a time. I don't think I've ever even noticed which one first. Will pay attention tomorrow morning.

    • Always right shoe first. Not even sure the last time I attempted left first but it seems like it would feel wrong!

    • Always the left. I like to work from left to right. Same with socks, pants, t-shirts etc. I'm a righty.

    • Left. I've got better balance on the right foot. When it comes to do the right shoe I'll've fully fired up balance software.

    • I’m left then right most of the time.

    • Left first. I'm right handed but trained myself to be ambi with a mouse which is pretty useful. Fairly sure I'm right footed also but the soccer days are long gone.

    • The real question is whether you put your shoes or your pants on first

    • Usually left I think. I'm right-handed.

If they're shoes with laces, I have an annoying-to-me habit of tying the first in a double knot, then the second one in just a bow. I don't mean to. It's annoying when I'm untying them.

    • Runners - right and then left shoe

      Slip-ons - left then right

      Socks - right then left

      Am right handed

  • At the beach with a not particularly close friend for maybe the last truly warm evening... I don't hate the beach but man, give me a wide open plain or mountain forest or even a treed river bank any day. Something about the gritty sand and seagulls and stuff in the sand and the endless expanse of the water just makes me feel meh.

It's cool for people watching when it isn't too hectic though.

  • Three gins worth of cleaning and dancing round the apartment. Need to pass the mop over the floors and do some clothes sorting but mostly done. And I wake up tomorrow to a clean kitchen.

    Night all ♥️

  • What a shitty week. Work finally done, going to go for a walk to soak up the last of the warmth. Then I need to make my chocolate pie for a friends dinner tomorrow, will have a beer during to make the process more fun. THEN I can relax.

    • Woah. Wait! Chocolate pie? More details please.

Sorry about your shitty week ❤️

      • Indeed, what is a chocolate pie?

        also, happy weekend 🍺🍻🙂

      • I made it for a new year party and it was a hit! So going to impress different friends with it.

Here’s the recipe I use. I don’t bother with the cream topping for a pie I need to transport and want to make the day before eating, and it’s still very nice without it. But I’d do it for a home pie.

And there’s usually some leftover chocolate filling you can eat on its own.

Last time I did a biscoff base instead of Oreo like the recipe calls for, this time I’ll try the Oreo.

I love making sweet pies haha

  • Over the hump of being drained of all energy, which is nice, but lizard brain really wants to have a drink this weekend. We'll see.

Hoping for a swim after work if it's not too nasty, since it'll be the last warm day for a while. Been 2 weeks since my last date with the paddleboard and I miss it sorely!

  • Let me know if someone else wants to do tomorros DT :) I've just been doing it because I'm awake at this hour lately. I haven't been doing it right on midnight, usually 10-20mins after lol.

I hope everyone has a restful and peaceful night! Sending you all my love and good vibes!

    • The exact time of creation is really no issue. If we're all sleeping good and it happens at 5am then whatever. A bot would be nice, but the last thing I coded was hunt the wumpus in the 90s.

  • Oh man, it's the evening for the blues. Today's episode of The Pitt unsurprisingly hit so hard. Doesn't matter that what happened was telegraphed a mile away, Noah Wyle's acting in that last minute fucking destroyed me. Had a big ugly cathartic cry and still tearing up over it. While also just overwhelmed by the competency porn. Y'all really need to watch this show (with several boxes of tissues). Best medical show ever

  • today is the last day of cleaning at the old house

i have learnt that the appearance of clean is more important than actual cleanliness in this case

so I am not going to knock myself out

i will dust but not wipe everything, vacuum once, not twice , just do the most egregious scuff marks on walls

    fuck em

  • On our morning walks we often spot other dogs taking their owners for a walk. Today I spotted a couple of moccasins (poodles?) so I held back a bit and then they all spotted each other. They didn't bark. They squeaked. Which set old Weezy off because he loves rough play with squeaky toys. I was amused they can make noise like that.

  • The trams are doing that thing again. Nothing for forever then three at once. I need go deliver these dog biscuits dammit

  • I am attempting a Friday night clean up. Powered by gin and tonic and a cruisy Spotify mix (JJ Cale, Cat empire etc) ...let's see if I can federal this joint so i can enjoy the weekend!! 💪🏻

  • Sitting outside thinking about what I am gonna do when I stop smoking to keep myself occupied. Here's a list. Yo-yo, play the recorder, totem tennis, shoot flies, play battleships, keyboard. What's your suggestions?

    • Drawing is a good one. And cheap too

    • Origami - it’ll keep your hands busy

    • Cards? Solitaire?

    • Crochet comes to mind. Easy to carry around, takes up quite a lot of hand attention and you end up (usually!) with a usable article. Also mandarins are great to make one's mouth a lot less cigarette friendly. Also peppermints but mandarins are more effective imo.

    • Collage, crochet/finger knitting, gardening, experimental baking, revive macrame, try sculpture, adult colouring books, word/number/jigsaw puzzles, hook rugs or embroidery, become a meme lord, millinery, furniture restoration, darts, shoot some hoops, dancing.. ok some of those are a bit silly. But with the time you'll have and money you'll save you can just about take up leatherwork, stained glass window making or anything really.

      Edit: photography.

  • So what do you do if you find an airtag in the middle of a sports field? Leave it there, or take and leave in your letterbox or something...? I have an android phone...

Edit . Nfc'd it. Not marked as lost.

Edit edit. Just left it on a bench

    • It's designed to be found so I guess it will find its way home?

  • I have eaten too many choc coated raspberries. I regret nothing, but I will need to replenish the toilet paper tomorrow as a matter of urgency.

  • geebus, youtube is infested with fake AI jordan peterson channels , they fake his voice and it's just some crap they repeat, so many, I keep blocking them

  • worked hard again today, I'm covered in bruises from the past week doing physical stuff,

and it's just been real weird with fam , it's like I'm living with aliens. Barely a single word out of their mouths makes sense to me.

on a positive note doing all this physical work is giving me some core muscle strength and my posture has greatly improved!! Now to lose another 20 kilos and I'll be feeling great. 🙂
