KOTOR remake returns for annual tradition of reminding you it's still alive, but no you can't hear anything more about it until it comes back next year to say it again

I just have no interest in a Disney-ified KOTOR whatsoever.
- They can do good work: Rogue One and Andor were fucking fantastic.
  ...but yeah the odds aren't great when you consider everything else.
  
  Yeah, but by now I can't even enjoy them without being reminded that they take place in the same universe as the rest. It just feels pointless.
  I'll rather keep my head canon in ~~Legends~~ the EU. Kyle Katarn stole the Death Star plans and Ben is Luke's son.

How about instead of wasting all this time sprucing up a game we've all already played... They make a new one.
I hate this remake remaster treadmill that the AAA scene has turned into. I haven't been excited about anything coming out in years because it's mostly shit we've already seen.
- Just ignore the current AAA games. There is an ocean of great AA, indy and older games. And plenty to be excited about.

I'm afraid if it's ever going to be made it'll be some mediocre action game instead of proper RPG. If it end up being something like Baldurs Gate then I'd be happy, but I suppose this franchise under Disney is too normie nowadays. There used to be many Star Wars games across all genres, from strategies to racers to complex flight sims, but I don't see them doing anything hardcore but a generic action game.
- I posted in another thread about this somewhere, but the original's D&D 3.x ruleset was bizarre and, frankly, awful. I don't want to play that again.
  A larian-style turn based RPG could be interesting, if the system was solid. But I feel like there's still this lingering idea that players don't want complexity, despite the continuous success of Larian. But maybe disney is looking to aim higher? Meh.
- I wouldn't mind it being an action game, so long it's more tactical and not just a button masher. Or an RPG with Skyrim style combat.
  
  I wonder how much effort are they willing to put into it. The original game is quite unique with its (flawed) gameplay and I'm afraid they just want to make an easy buck on nostalgia, so they'll just slap a Kotor name on a generic tried and tested system that "works" and it won't feel like Kotor. Then they might as well make a new game set in Old Republic era.
  I think the game being set in Old Republic would be enough to get people interested and it wouldn't need "Knights of the..." in the title to sell well. But that would require writing a completely new story

Still alive kinda like the God Emperor of Mankind, maybe its better to let it die and be reborn (with Larian developing it)
- KOTOR by Larian is a wet dream of mine, although I doubt it'll ever happen.

Kotor mostly holds up. The rough edges are now part of the charm

Yup got my regular scheduled email.. "hey come on back.. blah blah blah" and then I think of Disney/Lucus and remember I will never give them another dime....
