  • Its crazy how a pandemic happens every time Trump is in office. Like a cosmic warning sign.

  • /facepalm

You know, back in the early days of the Internet, before it allowed commercial content, and before the Eternal September, I was excited at the notion of the democratization of information, and it being a multi-way conversation, not just top-down.

Say what you will about the days of having a few corporations gatekeeping virtually all info, at least back in those days I didn't see them spreading anti-vaccine horseshit.

  • Can you imagine travelling back a few centuries and telling people "I could protect my family from it but I choose not to"? They'd look at you like you had 2 heads

    • Only have to go back a few decades on measles:

The author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory lost his daughter to measles just before it was available as a vaccine....

The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her.

He wrote this back in 1988 to address those that were hesitant to get vaccinated back then...I doubt he could have thought that Wakefield would come along later and help to completely fuck up everything.
