Sanders Gets GOP Leader to Agree to Work On Medicare Covering Dental, Hearing, and Vision

I want to know how we got here. Historically speaking, republicans and democrats were supposed to be two sides to the same coin. Republicans would have one set view on how to run things. Democrats would have a different set of ideas. Both would offer a set of bills and agenda on how to run the country, with the idea being their plans would benifit you, and the opposition showing how their plans would benefit you. Then you take a look at both sides and vote for the one you agree with most.

Somehow, we've arrived at a position where republicans are actively trying to hurt America. That's what it is, I'm telling you. There's no other way to describe this behavior. They legitimately want to hurt Americans.

And so you'd think that stratagy would instantly fail. All the democrats would have to do is be strong, and have the message "donald trump is trying to sell your country to russia."

And your options would be

A) Destroy the country

B) Don't destroy the country.

Except, these asshole democrats are almost as corrupt as the republicans. So you got republicans fighting with America, and democrats fighting with democrats. Nobodys left to fight the republicans.

So.......how did we get to a point where roughly half of the citizens would rather pick A?

Because right now, the republicans entire party platform seems to be "Fuck America!" and their base just goes along with "YEAH! FUCK ME!"

I disagree on such a wholehearted level.

'He's had serious pull in the democratic party for almost a decade' - do you mean 8 years ago when the DNC yanked his spot and went full force behind Hillary, and then relegated him to a 'radical leftist' camp away from the core groups like Schumer and Pelosi?

He's been on the fringe of the party for as long as he's been in the party. Consistently standing up for issues that are later accepted. He's CONSTANTLY fighting for human rights and taking stances too far left to be mainstream, making all of the pushes seemingly moot because he can't get bills to the floor in a republican congress because SOCIALISM and he can't get bills to the floor in a Democrat congress because we never get to have one, and when we do, they say they're not 'bi-partisan enough to pass across the aisle'.

Is he effective at getting laws passed, no. Is he a solitary and stalwart voice of reason almost every. single. time? Yes.
