Because of ethical restraints it is extremely rare for a senior government official, let alone a sitting president, to endorse a consumer product so explicitly.
Yeah... Those were good times.
Do they not fucking remember the whole Goya thing last time. He literally shot a commercial from the presidents desk.
BRAWNDO
THE THIRST MUTILATOR
it's got electrolytes
it’s what plants crave
Like we needed another reason not to buy tesla
How long till a President ends a speech with "smash that like and subscribe for 10% off RAID: Shadow Legends"?
He is already kind of doing it, just replace Raid Shadow Legends with Russia.
This is an insult to RAID shadow legends. They're too high quality for this conman to hock them
Hock tuah, rite guise
In parallel universes where he wasn't born of a rich family, Trump is a car salesman. This is our universe trying to find balance.
A used car salesman
At a buy-here-pay-here dealer that specializes in salvage title "luxury" cars.
Tesla is a close second at this point.
A car used salesman
He hasn't got the charisma, the financial sense, or trustworthiness to become a used car salesman.
Yet here we are.
But he does have that lack of morality to at least try
Keep boycotting, and join protests outside Tesla showrooms. ~60% of Musk’s wealth is in Tesla shares. Tank the stock and tank his wealth and thus influence
There are protests all across the US and starting to spring up in other countries. Here’s a list of upcoming ones + a guide to help organize one around you if none exist
This is the easiest boycott of my life. I love it
It's Goya beans all over again
And I've been boycotting Goya ever since.
Same. Turns out they're not much different from store brands anyhow
First thing I thought of too.
I'm not surprised. Didn't Donald Trump used the Oval Office once to promote some... ketchup or sauce or something, and was paid for? I mean it denigrades the station of the office, but does he really care?
He literally sold the Resolute Desk to Goya for ad space.
This is after he did a Mcdonalds/Dominos ad when he had them cater the NCAA basketball champions' dinner at the White House.
It's what he does.
Yes I think this one was the one I saw. It was.. Sigh. Disappointing?
Goya beans
Don't be surprised, each social media influencer has to make a living by promoting shitty products and scams for the affiliate money.
Elon with his child shield again
Seeing musk, trump and a Tesla in a single shot just makes that toxic association so much stronger. I don't think this is going to play out like they hope.
Plus, you know the boycott is working, talk about desperate.
I see Elon brought his body armor.
He still doesn't wear a helmet, so...
Rita repulsa zaps Orange Turidno. Laughs. Turdo goes Biggly.
The Dipshit starts flailing arms around, slapping multiple children as armor.
Power Rangers theme starts playing.
Are there laws in the US about such conflicts of interest or was is basically tradition until this point not to do shit like this?
Laws are as good as the ability and will to enforce them.
Good point... I guess I'm still curious if there could be a way he gets taken to court for this, but probably now.
Because of ethical restraints, it is extremely rare for a senior government official, let alone a sitting president, to endorse a consumer product so explicitly. In 2017, when then-Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway told Americans to buy from Ivanka Trump’s clothing line, she received a warning from a government ethics office and promised never to do it again.
Maybe there is a language barrier, but I didn't understand if a legal framework is implied by "ethical restraints". Can one be taken to court for violating an ethical restraint?
President Musk told his employee to do a photoshoot.
This story makes no sense any other way.
He told his orange clown to dance in front of the camera
Searching on Google “how to sell my tesla” or “how to sell my tesla stock” hurts their shares. Scheduling a test drive and not showing up wastes their time and resources :)
Well if I'm gonna schedule a test drive i may as well test the hell out of it, no?
Read those waivers and see how much you can get away with 😈 “oops, I lost control and scratched the shit out of the side”
I like the cut of your jib!
this whole gambit was actually a 4d chess move by elon to brainwash righties into buying EVs therefore solving climate change and bringing about global communism. I never should have doubted you, sir
Next he'll do the trick where he slams his dick into the car door
So the deep south yeehaw redneck GOP are supposed to buy EVs now?
I think some brains are about to explode...
when your influence is dying due to your hubris you become desperate and pull something out like this.
does trump even drive.
He can't, former and current presidents aren't allowed to
I assume he lacks the ability as well
Huh, TIL. Thanks for sharing this info.
I will bet you the entire nation of Russia that he has no clue how to operate a vehicle other than a matchbox car. zoom zoom
Best politicians money can buy!
Just because we want electronic cars, doesn't means we'll take Tesla's.
I don't want electric cars. I want electric trains.
Okay, but lots of people do. Why not both? I'm sure you realize that progress is incremental, we're not going to jump from here straight to a utopia.
Also, many people don't have a choice. My job has to be done in-person most of the time, it can't be done by robots or AI (yet), and I have to bring a large amount of equipment with me. But I would love my work vehicle to be a government-subsidized zero-emissions one!
I yelled at my phone when I saw this.
He said "oh wow! The whole thing is a computer!" like cars haven't been like that for YEARS now.
The I go on Facebook for some reason (I am in a rural area) and I am seeing people talking about buying teslas in the local community pages. These people are not people that couldn't afford a used Mitsubishi Mirage....
like cars haven’t been like that for YEARS now
Worse, Teslas are designed like computer software rather than cars, which is why they are so dangerous and terrible, as software development processes are absolutely horrible for things that actually matter, especially when compared to existing vehicle engineering principles.
I feel dirty cross-linking to that other place but check out how/where they locate the brake lines. A nice convenient rust-prone place, only accessible by removing the battery. Apparently the design has become even shittier since.
The entire French population: "I guess we're going on a holiday"
Don't make promises you can't keep. :(
The French liberating me and the other non-crazy folk would be the best rn.
It's a hyperbole but the proximity of an autocrat's palace to a Tesla showroom makes for a compelling spot for some French-style sightseeing.
The Behind the Bastards podcast likens Washington DC to Versailles in a recent episode.
What even is this timeline
This man is one of the most pathetic human beings to ever walk the earth
Well, it was Goya last time. Now, it's Tesla. Soon, it will be Campbell's Soup for all the soup-lines his depression will create.
And that only pushed me to find home recipes for the few Goya products I used to buy... Have not bought anything Goya in 4-5 years
Rednecks are gonna buy ev to own the libs!
"Daaaad, the other kids are being mean to me!"
This the same dipshit who wants to halt federal EV buildout, EV Programs, and federal building charging stations. I doubt any of you needed reminding, but JFC, it pains me that some dummy is gonna buy an EV only AFTER he sat in one for political theater.
Well, yeah. It's the same boomer move: pull the ladder up behind you. Musk and Tesla already benefitted from the programs he now wants to cut, to raise the barrier of entry for potential competitors...
Sawsticars aren't profitable without the carbon taxes credits. Notice no one has suggested getting rid of those.
Those public chargers are competion with Musk's Tesla chargers. The only profitiable part of Tesla.
That's so fucking gross
Such a historical site defaced for such a purpose.
I hope someone's dog shits on the white house lawn and doesn't clean it up
Slaps roof of car
This can hold so many copies of "Mein Kampf".
No it does not have a spoiler. When you need the additional downdraft you simply open the window and stick your arm out at a 45 degree angle
Man can the writers chill? They've been doing the most unbelievable shit these past few days
Trump is for sale.
😂 what a waste. I doubt this even moves the needle on public perception. Rednecks aren't buying these things only well off urban Republicans. I can't think many leftists give a shit about these things. They may be fast, but they have no class.
especially considering how restricted by range and chargers people are subject to in more rural areas.
Partially true. It moves the perception against Tesla, xelon & president felon. Sales will drop further.
Is the driver's seat waterproof?
If you wear the included depends
Autonomous Urethra
Surely associating the vehicles even more closely with the primary reason the stock is falling off of a fucking cliff will prevent the stocks from falling off of a cliff.
I'm waiting for Trump to endorse Brawndo. Then we've gone full circle.
The joke wasn’t the energy drink but that the government was blatantly owned by a corporation to its own detriment. The joke is now a reality apparently.
Laugh at those idiots.
Of course he does.
Presidents (present nor former) are not allowed to drive vehicles.
On public highways. I remember they made a fairly big point of Dubya driving a pickup truck while visiting his ranch in Texas.
Can't wait for /r/outoftheloop post asking "trump exposes tesla cars in the white house, what does it mean?"
