Ran into a similar but slightly different debate the other day, about self-defeatism. Had to explain that non-violent showings of force (protests, words, legislation etc) do work for both sides.

Your take is woefully lacking in context. Sometimes the same action is justified in s different scenario. Cutting someone open is usually bad, but when a surgeon does it in a hospital it's usually okay!
Jury nullification is a tool. It isn't good or bad. It can be used by either side. Yeah, using it to protect Trump is bad, but this case would be good I think.
A knife can be used to murder people, but I still want people to know how to use one properly. Just because it can be used to cause great harm doesn't mean there isn't a good and valid use.
Well, "ethical" avenues haven't worked since I've been alive, so why not try something else? Playing by the rules isn't super effective when the referee is in the hands of the powerful.
