Just paid my taxes with Itunes Gift Cards!

I feel like my post yesterday spurred some good discussion but i got a lot of down votes which I didn't think you could do in this subreddit and a few people seemed upset whcih was never my intention.

So, I wanted to share some actually good news that's coming out of this administration.

Ever since Elon musk took over the IRS i've been hoping maybe something good would come out of it. I mean who doesn't hate the irs right?

anyway, filling my taxes has always been such a PITA (pain in the ass) and every year I have to pay out a bunch of money to HRblock just to be able to find out if I owed or coudl get a refund, but now that Elon is changing things, it was soo much easier!

In fact, I didn't even have to file anything this year. For the first time ever, I got a nice text message telling me what I owed and with a handy link to pay on line.

I thought that was pretty nifty on its own, but seeing as I don't have a credit card, i thought it might not work for me. Then i noticed the option that I could pay with Itunes Gift Cards, which you can just buy for cash at the local Kroger.

Anyway, I was able to pay my taxes basically in cash this year and I didn't even have to file. Hopefully, streamlining the gov't like they say they're doing will have some other good things come from it!

Has anyone else gotten the IRS text yet?

Hi friend im having bad news for you that was not the irs you have sending your hard earned itunes moneys to that was in actuality a genuine scam. But do not fear I am a real life irs taxician and I can not only reclaim your financials but also have your tax paid and in fact you are in actuality owed money. All you need to do is sending $50 in xbox vouchers to me and I will ensure your vouchers are directed to the correct destination and then you will receive the $100 in finance reimbursement that your are owed plus a further reimbursement of many more dollars.

Man same, apparently the IRS is becoming international now. I live in Saudi Arabia and they reached out to me telling me to pay 30$ itunes gift cards. Outrageous!
- You guys are legit ignorant if you're paying the IRS. I got an email that they wanted to send me a Loyalty refund, they just needed my bank info and an SMS verification code I read them to prove I was me. It's supposed to come in the next week but they said sometimes it's easier to process with crypto so they may request that info if my bank has any problems.

oh man can you believe it this guy is actually celebrating the fact that the irs is spying on us now and sending us text messages telling us what we owe thats not good news thats a total disaster and a huge invasion of our privacy and whats with the itunes gift cards thing thats just a way for the government to track our purchases and control our every move what makes you think the government is actually streamlining anything theyre just making it easier to control us and take our money
- theyre just taking the guess work out of it for you! its not like they have access to your face book or anything. i feel like now that i paid I don't have to worry about what if I got it wrong and they tell me i owe more. i think giving up a little privacy isn't so bad if it makes life easier, but i can see both sides where it might not be a good thing for some of your data
