That mode is way closer to a moba than csgo. Its kinda just stealing what Deadlock is doing. Even added 3rd person for it.
Why are writers at the Verge so bad at describing games?
Like... The bomb mode? Hostages? The whole thing with buying equipment at the start and if you die, you're dead until the next round?
I feel like that would suck balls with OW's character mechanics.
Nah the Verge is just fucking stupid. Its a mode that let's you buy moba-like upgrades between rounds. The rounds are basically shortened versions of normal overwatch gamemodes.
🤮
Games as a service is a scam!
Overwatch 2 becomes Overwatch 1 again. Gosh, who saw that coming!? rolls eyes dramatically
A lot of the non game mechanics, yes. But the core gameplay has changed so much it can definitely be called ow2 in my opinion.
Nothing inside a video game should cost real money.
I could agree that subjectively it isn't worth real money, but its kinda silly to say games should never charge for anything. Free games need a source of income, and if it doesn't effect gameplay in game purchases are fine by me.
It's objectively abusive. Games convince you to value arbitrary worthless rewards - that is what makes them games. Attaching a price tag exploits how humans are bad at distinguishing forms of value. There's no conversion ratio between soccer goals and hamburgers, no matter how badly you want a few of each.
They don't
They plainly fucking can.
If you mean to start insisting payment is somehow optional - shelve it. I am against any excuse for charging any player any money for any thing inside a video game. Getting one free lootbox per game or whateverthefuck does not excuse the millions that cost five actual dollars.
