The first month wasn't so bad. Sarah, his wife of eight years, remained optimistic. "You'll find something better," she'd say, squeezing his shoulder as he hunched over job listings. But tech companies weren't hiring like they used to, and his skills had grown stale while he'd grown comfortable.
By month three, the silence in their house had developed weight. Sarah stopped asking about his job search, and he stopped volunteering information about the rejections. Their savings dwindled. He caught her crying in the bathroom one night, but when he tried to comfort her, she shrugged off his touch.
The note she left was brief. "I can't watch you give up on yourself anymore. I'm staying with my sister." She took half the clothes from their closet and her grandmother's china from the kitchen cabinet. The spaces she left behind seemed to mock him – empty hangers, vacant shelves, hollow rooms that echoed with every step.
That evening, Tom sat in their – his – dimly lit living room, surrounded by framed photos he couldn't bear to look at. His laptop screen glowed with another rejection email. Outside, a neighbor's wind chimes tinkled in the darkness, a lonely melody that seemed to underscore everything he'd lost.](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/b3a11313-64f2-4374-a260-5e2426d51233.webp?format=webp)

"Fictional characters unable to sustain marriage for three months."
Because they didn't work hard while working!
Is this fucktard trying to imply it's the dude's fault for not having a job after 3 months? I don't have ajob after 20 months not because I don't have skills to do the job. I cannot express myself as easily. Still I am taking the L. I don't have any choice. Our society isn't exactly built on understanding.
@fckreddit@lemmy.ml’s wife didn’t look back as she left him sitting alone in their - his - bedroom. If only he had used Indeed to match employers with quality candidates.
Lol. I am glad to not have a wife or gf. It would be hell on everyone involved. Having borderline personality disorder sucks that bad.

That's really good creative writing and really bad LinkedIn posting.
It would be good creative writing if you couldn't feel the vast corporate void behind these words
No no no, that’s what gives flavor to the text!
Eh... if this were written in high school it'd be promising. In college, not a bad first draft. In grad school, if this is the result of several revisions then you're definitely not top of the class.
I would consider it excellent linkedin posting!
It’s not even good creative writing either, it’s just nice sounding words devoid of actual meaningful substance.
Well, there’s meaning, but it’s the idiotic “you should hustle e.g. it’s not your employers job to teach you but rather you should spend time outside of work leveling up tech skills to stay competitive.”
Where’s the
“He had been doing bootcamps every day now, 4 hours a night after his 8 hour day, and had no mental energy to spend on his wife, so she left him in that situation too, because the idea that you should devote your entire life to generating value for a corporation is bonkers.”
That guy's name? Tom Bombadil. He was left behind when hobbits revolutionised frolicking and not giving a shit about anything.
