I've realised how much of my life I've dedicated to work needlessly.

I've been home all day and I've lost touch with the things I do for enjoyment. All I want to do is grab the work laptop and keep working.

Don't end up like me. Draw the line.

I think there are times when dedication and long hours are needed to learn and advance, and then when the rewards of that are attained then a person can relax a bit.

BUT i did build an assistive frame for his ADHD brain (his spatial awareness ranks somewhere around a golden retriever puppy), as he's planning out the rail spacing for our pull out drawer clothesline. bit of 3D printing, bit of t-track and voila, he's got a solid three dimensional frame to play with, including full slide capabilities.

This weekend is looking positively chilly, I can't wait. I was sweating up a storm when out and about earlier, feels humid and barely any wind.

- Update: Looks like it was looked into and whatever is it that happened yesterday was not to occur again unless there's official communication from an authorised source.
  I thought it was from an authorised source hence the mistake.
- Oh I'm hoping it passes without incident.
  I've already sent some emails pre 8am to explain what had happened yesterday.
  So waiting to find out what happens now.

I found a pack of speculoos cookies in the back of the pantry on the high shelf, ate 6, now I feel sick, am throwing the rest away . No more cookies for this year.

back from camping. technically back sunday cause the weather saturday was crap then sunday night none of the adults slept a wink. Howling wind, smashing rain and then a thunderstorm rolled in around 6am. We all got up and went "nope, done with this" and bailed early. Spent the last day cleaning and drying and putting everything away. trying to convince the mrs that its time to ditch the tent and upgrade to a campervan or something. Be a bit less at the mercy of the weather.

I love my tent, a van just doesn't have the same appeal. And the camper trailers really are just a tent on a trailer that take away any flexibility.
- Flexibility is good. But a bit more resilience against the weather would be better. Especially with the toddler. having to set the tent up again on the front lawn to dry out is a pain in the neck. And yeah you'd have to set up the pop top again, but at least you can do that in the driveway and dont have to peg the whole thing down so it doesnt blow away. We only have a mid sized suv so space is always an issue. If we had've had a van last weekend we would had raincoats at least. Forecast didnt call for rain so we didnt bother.

1500 bucks to fit a half decent tow pack to the car. not great not terrible. Thanks to I think it was Thornburywitch who suggested Hyman Reese? double the down ball weight of the stock kia one. Impressive!

Catching up with one of my old bosses for lunch today. I'm kinda nervous. I must come across as much better off having left their organisation that wronged me towards the end and set up on my own (which is the truth anyway). I don’t think I eat too much junk, but I’m trying to eat healthier. BUT the ‘bad’ stuff tastes good! Sometimes in look in the pantry and the chips or chocolate or biscuits or icecream is calling to me. We live in a world of food engineered to hit the sweet/salty/fatty sweet spot in the brain. It’s hard to resist. Anyway, today was not a day of resistance, looking at you salt and vinegar chips.

Ditto with the healthier eating. My main problem (apart from bad habits around snacking) is that the other people here like to have snacks on hand, so there’s usually something in the cupboard to tempt me

I had cookies today for the first time this year 😔 I've had chocolate 3 times, no icecream, only frosty fruits. No crisps. No cake either. I don't make naan or roti anymore.
my bad food is I sometimes have a spring roll or two for lunch or have some raisin bread.

Got my Edifier headphones today and I have a good first impression of them. Audio over USB just worked and I've connected them to my phone and work computer over bluetooth. Audio quality is pretty good. Honestly, you can't complain for $60 that are just going to be work headphones

This is the second Tuesday I’ve felt absolutely wiped.

Coles was out of watermelon when I went to the shops earlier but they had "yellow watermelon". I've never seen yellow watermelon in my life and it was the only option, so I purchased. It's quite nice, refreshing on a hot evening. Tastes pretty much the same.

I had to reset my online access to the libraries. Looking at my history I can’t even remember half the books in it.

I had a rather vivid but weird dream that I mostly can't remember except it involved having to take a break on a road trip somewhere subtropical due to heavy rain and being welcomed at a stranger's place where they had us sit down for dinner with them and it was jovial and lovely. The guy was a taxi driver.

The most memorable part was that the guy started making tomato sauce using powder from a packet 🤔

I had a dream about finding my boyfriends pyjamas in the form of wide leg jeans in Cotton On (they're really awesome Catzilla jamis) and while I was contemplating buying them I discovered that a boba tea place in Eastland was actually using their tea to fuel experiments and making people deranged. Then I ate ramen with some random people and when I went to pack up my duffle bag, there was sooo much random stuff in it that I'd never seen before.
Dreams are so weird.
- That's actually pretty rad. I love me some deranged tea conspiracies - out of Eastland no less. Now I need to look for these jammies...

I read the local papers from cities i used to live and read the most heartbreaking story from Detroit. A woman let two of her children die of the cold, she just had too many children, they all lived in a van and she couldn't look after them. It's like something out Gorky's My Childhood. She could have gotten help, it's not like there is none, but I expect she was depressed and isolated. 😔

- I don't know about public or charity mental health services.
  The bad thing is that the weather is very cold people will die of the cold. So people who refuse to be helped are in danger.

Had to make a phone call at work today and my words came out as mumble jumble. All I had to say was, "The machine was broken." I find that my communication is terrible in the morning. I tend to think of what I was supposed to say after the fact.

I'm going to have to give up caffeine and somehow sleep earlier. It will improve my mental health too.

Better sleep is a good start, but rest assured occasionally fumbling a sentence or two happens to everyone. You can always say something like, let me start again, and laugh it off with the person you’re talking to. No one will care, it’s a normal part of conversations.
