How is your week going?

Well, it seems to be a technology fail week.
I emailed a software developer to tell them about a pretty significant bug. After some back and forth they decided it is my computer (it isn't) and told me to "go to Geek Squad." Does Geek Squad even exist anymore?
And now, I just called "tech support" because I couldn't get a (different and unrelated) video conferencing software to work. They had never heard of Linux, didn't know what a log is, didn't know what the cloud is, didn't know what a URL is...🤨
I'm not sure if I am on candid camera or in a parllel universe but it's quite frustrating and I still can't use either one.

Found out I might have celiac disease. Could be better.

I released my very first song on Apple Music and the other major music streaming platforms. It’s live on Apple Music rn. I don’t care if it is never found or listened to. It’s just so cool knowing that anyone could listen to it. I’ve another track lined up for release and have music videos for both. This is a dream of mine, and I actually followed through on something!

I'm in the beginning stages of Spring Festival. I've had three feasts in five days, plus the immediate family feast (which we could better control the contents of).
I think I've gained about 15kg. But in the good way!

I’ve just had bacon, eggs, baked beans, and hash browns for lunch so it’s going pretty well right now.

I got an award!
I went winter camping with a scout troop a few weekends ago. Some of the kids slept out in snow shelters to complete their winter survival training. I built my own shelter and slept out with them just to see if I could handle the cold. I'm proud to say that I survived in comfort.
When the kids were awarded their winter camping patches the scoutmaster also awarded me an honorary patch. The best part was my son's reaction: he had a big smile on his face and clapped hard for me when I accepted the patch.

I've accepted a job offer. It's a big paycut, and finances are going to be very very very tight for a year or two. I'm going to have to make lifestyle changes, but it is probably time to grow up and do that really.
I'm nervous about handing in my notice. The person I'll have to hand in the notice to is a fucking nightmare. She screamed in the face of a previous quitter, and made everybody rearrange the office seating so that people quitting couldn't sit near each other. She's going to be a pain in the arse for months.
But, positive. Feel like I'm making actual choices that I care about for once!
- Sounds like good riddance. If she yells in your face just turn around and walk away. She can't fire you anymore.
  
  Yeah you're right, I should've quit so many times over the last two years but I needed the money and I am more than a little uncomfortable with the thought of her being an absolute arsehole for the duration of my notice period
- Once you hand in notice you can start playing games so that they hustle you out the door with alacrity; you won't have to stay for months.
  First, the old tried and true tool: work to rule. Do your job, as described, and no more.
  Second, the incompetence gambit. Do your job BADLY. Do what's asked of you, but make dumb mistakes, do things slowly, "accidentally" hand in first draughts (with the correct draught already on your computer so you can produce it when they spot the problem...if they spot the problem in the first place!). You know, that kind of thing. If you're training your replacement, key pieces of misinformation are always fun to insert.
  Third, make sure all communications are in something more substantial than speech. If they tell you something vocally, follow up with email summarizing the conversation and what action items you took from the conversation. Ask them to confirm that your understanding was correct so there's records instead of he said/she said. (This is both protection for yourself and fun.) Tinpot dictators really hate being held to account (it's why they favour only verbal communications!), so torture her.
  Finally you can play the tardy/absentee game. Come to work increasingly late. Leave work increasingly early. When the complaints start, you can make a subgame with the third technique, driving your nemesis to distraction as you roll this activity back ... only to roll it forward again to test resolve and boundaries.
  I mean what's she going to do? Fire you?
  
  Haha, while that is tempting and definitely sounds like it would be fun to watch, I'm not really in the market for making my own life more difficult for a few months. Revenge is a lot of work! 😂

I'm just getting over a cold. It's the fifth time I've been sick since July.
