Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives

I really hope this is true. More depressing than Trump winning the election has been everyone being so resigned and despondent. If people don't fight for every inch, he's going to take miles and miles before everyone wakes up.
- Yeah, the number of Democratic lawmakers voting for his cabinet appointees and that "deport migrants who are just charged with a crime" legislation has been awful to watch, hopefully this snaps them out of acting like Republicans won some landslide
  
  It is truly concerning how many democrats are going along with this nonsense. Defy, resist, fight.

  The gay man and the former florida senator I can understand, and Hegseth barely passed at all not even getting all 53 Republicans, but idk why tf a fox news host got 23 democrats to sign off on becoming transportation secretary.
  RFK hearing is going on as I type this and most of his picks are TBD.
- Fighting for every inch should have happened during the election, but demonstrably in this comment section we would all rather shit on Democrats than try to fix this by convincing people to vote for them.

This is a total shutdown of the federal government for everything besides personnel. All science research in the US has stopped. States are losing their funding. Completely unconstitutional.
- Should have just went bidirectional. Stopped all funding from the states to the federal government. The federal government would what? Print money to try to pay the soilders to invade their homeland? Not much can be done if the states all said fuck you to the federal government
  
  I'm starting to see more and more that this is how the inevitable schism will occur. I was afraid our nation's demise would be armed conflict, but based on the last week I now believe it will be some combination of Feds withholding funding, states responding by withholding revenue, and then those states that are net exporters of dollars to the federal government just starts managing themselves without oversight.
  States will form coalitions of like-minded governments with similar economic interests. States like California and Texas will be centers of gravity and will have incredible negotiating power. Others (see: deep red south) will slide into near third world status. Some might actually become Canadian Territories. Interesting to think about academically.
  Surely someone has done the research and put the thought into how this could go. And written it down?
  
  I fail to see how withholding all taxes for everyone is going to help renew the flow of funding for necessary services.

This is distraction and chaos on purpose. It may even be a ploy to go to the SC to get more exec power
- Democrats everywhere have been checked out from reality for almost 3 months. Good opportunity as any now to get their ass in gear and act as a proper opposition.
  
  They can't do anything. As a minority party, Dems can filibuster bills going through congress but they can't do anything to the president or pass any bills unless Republicans help them.
  We've created a pit we can't climb out of.

In r/fedNews, it seems that ill-thought-out email about voluntary redundancies has somewhat galvanised fed employees. Some even linked the famous manual.
- Good, I was hoping that would happen. That email (the reply “resign” to resign one) was a fucking insult.

It means fuck all if Democrats mobilize because we voted them out of majority. Congress needs to move to stop Trump, right now Dems only have power to stop Congress.
- Also the Neolibs are currently getting exactly what they want so don't expect them to do anything to stop their conservative friends
  
  Oh look a "both-sides-bad" centrist. Hey, thanks for helping to elect a fascist, really opening peoples eyes about the corruption by actively putting the corruption in power.
