Came down with food poisoning or gastro or something, so didn't see the fam today. Will do that on the 27th. Spent the morning drinking water, and then when my bowels were thoroughly cleaned out, I went for a walk with my partner.
We did end up getting Macca's because I wanted a coffee frappe, which was worth it lol.
The cat is very very happy were home, he's been very playful and snuggly.
All in all, rather chill. And nothing wrong with that ^other than the overwhelming hatred I have for myself for being a disappointment to my family and my dad^ but that's Christmas time for me anyway ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
I got my nephew a remote controlled fart machine. He keeps sneaking it under adult seats and setting it off, the grown ups are being good sports and playing along. The kids are in fits of giggles. It's a happy game that I think the kids will remember throughout their childhoods. It's very wholesome. โค๏ธ
Back home after train delays. Kind of glad I went for the lazy option driving to and fro the CBD, much less lugging around heavy dishes and thanks to the wonderful city trees my car stayed nice and cool all day. Barely any traffic, zero stress. The first song that came on when I was about to enter the city was Bill Withers' Lovely Day. I can never get the full "daaaaaaaaaaaaay"... But it was great vibes.
Lunch was alright and I'm glad I left when I did. So many loud obnoxious kids on the ride home. Right. Just need to push myself to get the pots and crap out of the car, vacuum the house, pack... and disengage. C'mon me, one last push. We are almost done with being in GO mode
Yeah now i need a nap but I'm being good and going to the gym first because I'm a fucking masochist (I promised myself i would go this morning and I didn't)
Edit: Fed the extended cat family, ordered a kebab and time for a nap.
My aunt made bons bons with mini alcohol bottles, chocolate and mini block Christmas themed Lego. She also wrote the jokes and trivia questions herself. Was cool!
Didn't get to pat a horse but had a good tug of war with one of the doggos 'clyde' sort of a collie cross. I was very impressed by his enthusiasm. Clyde didn't realise that I'm not one to let go of the stick. He did well but I won.
Merry Christmas ๐! On the train to the 'Rat and it's lovely seeing quite a few on board with gifts and food. I even saw someone on the way to southern cross pushing around a pram with an Esky in it ๐
I'm also chuffed that my sneaky plan to drive to the CBD and park near the station (all day free street parking on a PH!) worked - although plenty others had the same idea as me on Little Collins St, that was full up, lucky I got a park on Collins just 3 minutes walk.
Downside of today is I packed my headphones and forgot to bring the adapter and I'm kicking myself. Luckily it's quiet in this carriage... I have to get used to the modern world and their stupid headphone-jackless phones.
E: families piled on around Rockbank. Oh well, I can live with it for now...
I did end up skipping roast and all the classic Chrissy things. But somebody dropped by, and I was gifted a small blow up pool and some solar powered fairy lights which is very dope. Blew and filled it up today, probably not gonna go for a dip til the morrow though
Apparently one of the Indian restaurants near my house is open, so I'm thinking I might take a quick shower then nip down for lunch. They're very nice there, and their food is affordable. Tbh I don't really like roasts (except for roast chooks, but I don't have the patience to cook those), so I'd take a curry over a roast lamb any day of the week
When hottest 100 day comes, I reckon I might pull up my speaker and have a lazy day in the pool listening along. The only thing I'm worried about is that my hallway and every entrance is carpeted, so if I need to go for a funny run or want to grab a drink, I'll have to towel off outside and wait til I stop dripping. Might need to buy some kind of tarp to put down or something
A late merry Christmas to all. Hope it was pleasant whatever your activities were. I ate lots of food, stayed out of some arguments, patted a dog, and am now in bed.
I'm in two minds about whether I should get a new phone. The one I have right now (from the Samsung A range) has been randomly restarting, and my sister who has the same phone, has had that happen to her. I don't want to get rid of the phone until it's on its last leg, but maybe it's time for a factory reset.
It seems Iโve been too ambitiousโฆ 5 of the 6 golden nugget pumpkin seedlings sprouted then have grown super fast and the 20 gallon grow bags were ordered too late.
spoiler
(Plus to fill all 5 would take like fifteen or sixteen 25l bags of potting mix. To fill two containers would be a little over six which is more doable but I wanted four plants.)
Thatโs a lot of money and a lot of labour shoveling it in. (Especially with 4 of the jack be little just sown. They might survive in the last four remaining 30cm pots though and are more stakeable.)
Would it be super bad to just scratch out holes in the grass and plant the golden nuggets in ground? I havenโt had the soil tested for toxic metals yet because I have not been able to get to the post office, and am weird about the thought of the soil tainting the fruit.
It might not be tooo badโฆ Apparently fruiting stuff is lower risk.
While I havenโt had mine tested specifically yet, from the research gate map from 2018 my spot looks low for lead contamination. There has also been exposure to cat poop and a buried pet bird but that was about 4/5 years ago.
Just feels weird. With their size Iโm going to have to decide soon but donโt want to accidentally give anyone gross produce. And Melbcat might be having some purรฉe too.
Finally after years and years of asking record stores and second hand vinyl markets on the off chance they might have a copy (that wasn't stupidly priced)...

Still so warm in the hotbox bedroom. I had plans of leaving at like 7 am tomorrow but it's not happening I think. The beauty of driving is I can push it back. It'll be hot regardless... Leaving at 8:30 won't be that much worse on Boxing Day, surely, especially when most people will probably be staying indoors
Had planned on watching the last episode of Shrinking but CBF now, I'll watch it when I get back. It turned so soapy I kind of hate it now.
I did finish the first series of Northern Irish cop show Blue Lights yesterday though and that was really entertaining. Looking forward to s2.
Decided to grab biryani. Went for a chicken 65 biryani with medium spice and a mango lassi. Gonna get a takeaway and eat at home because it's very very busy. The lassi is great! Just waiting on the biryani
This area is so much better than the last one, seriously. So many fantastic places to eat in a 5-10 minute flat (not uphill!) walk, and everywhere has good prices and are really lovely
E: they put coriander in it :( All I can taste is Palmolive dishwashing liquid
Using up some of this yarn making a string bag. Acrylic is apparently not ideal but itโs what Iโve got. I may or may not finish, feeling kind of lazy.
Zooper doopers magic review: the green toffee apple tastes identical to how it did when it was brown. The creaming soda one tastes the same as icky raspberry to me, definitely the least fave and probs gonna sit in the freezer til I eventually throw them our
That's all I've tried so far. Will report back with lemonade and grape when it gets hot
Opinions requested: 24ยฐ inside still (17ยฐ out) but I've acclimated, so it doesn't feel hot or even toasty. It's comfortable for now
Since it will hit the 30s today, reckon I should open up my windows overnight to get things a bit cooler for the morn and close when I wake up? I don't think there'll be any avoiding it, it'll probably simmer at about 28 whether I open the window now or not. Just a matter of when
