seems like pet pics are in demand
here's a study in grey taken not five minutes ago
They're so glamourous 🥰 I feel like they were definitely princes or kings in a past life
Ted's a bum biter and Bill's a sneaky little bastard so it's very possible.
❤️❤️❤️ those beautiful boys!
Oh my god they're so fluffy!
I think I'm going to have my own work Christmas party tonight. Being self-employed shouldn't mean I miss out, right? The co-working space did a little Christmas lunch thing earlier in the week but it sucked, so my need to be drinking merrily to toast the end of the work year has not been satisfied. I was going to ask some friends to join for company but it's so last minute.
Nothing too extravagant because I have to foot the bill for this one. A nice burger with a pint of beer somewhere would go down a treat.
Sounds fair to me! Give us a heads up and I'm sure you'll get a bunch of virtual cheers!
Back to Melbs today then looking after aunts' doggo tm night.
Will be nice to catch up with the randos at the dog park. I'm guessing Hambam will be his usual self and try to herd inanimate objects / refuse to leave the park.
We! Demand! Hambam!
Also some day I still hope you can extricate butters for yourself.
HAMBAM!!! NEED PICS OF HAMBAM WHEN YOU SEE HIMMMMM 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
You can see his little smile
Oooh, your rug looks like one of those optical illusion ones - is it convincing?!
It is and it does at a certain angle and distance! Maybe a meter away or so, crouching helps lol. We use it to cover the ethernet cable haha
I have now finished my assignment and module quiz which are not due until Sunday - which means I have officially gone from being behind to being ahead, yay!! Plus I now only have the interesting subject to do, not the horrible one I was really hating doing. In celebration I present you all a bonus wattlebird photo, as seen in my assignment.
Well done!! Whoo!
Beautiful photo, their colours are so pretty 😍
Yay, go you. 🎆
"I am a sausage. A potato sausage" I believe that is called a croquette Dear, go back to sleep.
Today's random appreciation/positivity: I'm thankful for the people working in any kind of retail position at the moment. Every shop I've been in has been in complete and utter chaos, and I can't imagine how stressful it is
I'm thankful to any retail workers reading this, and those that aren't :)
These are good words. And a sentiment that's all too easily forgotten at this time of year. 👼😇👼 You are a nice person Baku.
I'm one of those weirdo types who loved customer service. I miss retail work. I could see myself doing it again, only you can't live off the pay. I liked this time of year: Yes it was super busy, but people were mostly pretty positive and the days flew by.
Fucking trespassers on Mernda/Hurstbridge line...can we just have a train network where this shit doesn't happen please? I'm paying $10 a day, least we deserve is a train network that works for that price.
My brother is a train driver that occasionally does that line as well as others. Just last week, he was driving the Upfield line. A brainless idiot driver steering by google maps missed a turning onto a road going parallel to the line. The driver then drove ONTO the tracks and proceeded north using those instead of the road. The car made it about half way to the next station before getting stuck, as train tracks are not roads and are not intended to be driven on in a normal car - even a four wheel drive has trouble. Its a width thing. The car was then sideswiped by trains going up the line AND down the line - the car ended up nearly fully crushed and derailed one of the trains. Fortunately no one was killed, and it wasn't rush hour, but nothing that happened was the train network's fault. You can't stop pure damned fools from being fools - but we all have to wear the consequences.
Been a long week.
Grabbed 2 guitar pedals as an early xmas present for myself, which I'm looking forward to playing with tonight.
I'm so drained. Haven't had a chance to play another gig since the first one because work has really taken it out of me.
I try to practice after work but it can be hard when you don't sound very good because you're tired.
1 more week to go.
And here's to a relaxing weekend ❤️
I know that feeling, making more mistakes and forgetting parts.
What pedals did you get?
Exactly. Then you think "fuck this I'm not feeling it, may as well stop"
Wmd geiger counter Strymon big sky
Check out the sound samples of the geiger counter. It's insane lol
Cheers everyone. I am allowing myself some scotch🥃
TheVoid cannot be bothered doing anything complicated with ladders or walking across paths. Enjoy an artistic redesign of his Emotional Support Box.
Typical voids these days. Can't even be bothered bringing bad luck and murder. Smh my head. What's the world coming to these days?
Miss Meow put her head on the escape key and made a window full screen, but that's as bad as it's gotten here too. Maybe Friday the 13th being unlucky means black cats get the day off?
I got paid for my tech support session, so it's all above board and legit. It would be a good bit of side money if I can do it regularly.
Anyone can sign up, but this might be a good opportunity for Baku if you have the time. It's an hour pit of your day here and there and you can make up to $70 if you're willing to run the session https://youngster.co/
ohohoooooo
this looks interesting
I've got 4 sessions lined up I can do, so at $40 a pop that's a potential $160 I could make for some quick work this weekend
A wattlebird just showed up and I was able to get a decent photo for my assignment. It's a bit of a relief, I was starting to think birds had abandoned my garden entirely.
Dad’s come down with Covid.
He feels garbage, but he’s on antivirals and has - per Stepmother’s update - requested a medicinal icy pole, so the prognosis is good
Oh dear, hope he feels better soon!
mmmmmmmmmmmmITSCHAINSAW TIIIIIIIIIIIME
let's see if today is the day I can start it up without screaming GAYYY MARRIAAAGE
Pop-popppp!
A currawong turned up in time to be photographed too. Not using this one for my assignment, so I thought I'd share with you.
they are powerful birds
since I started feeding the birds in my yard again the currawongs have come back
Righty-ho, time to toddle off to bed and leave you young 'uns to your wild Friday night plans. Back to work tomorrow, hopefully the finger will manage all the typing. I seem to be fine with everything, except that I still can't bend my finger well enough to reach the letter "x", but I don't think that one is going to be a big problem.
What if you need to deal with six boxes of toxic foxes?
Yay for the finger improving!
I'll just type 6 boses of tosic foses and say "oops" afterwards. We'll be too busy arguing about whether it's an animal rescue, hazardous incident or entrapment to notice anyway.
There's a family fun day in a park near me tomorrow evening. I find it suspicious because there's nothing on the flyers saying who is organising it. I think it must be one of the weird pop-up church groups you can get out here
sky pretty
always
The moon looked so majestic and mysterious earlier!
christmas with the one remaining family member I talk to tomorry. Looking forward to it. She's been in a health kick, I'ma gonna tell her I've been hoovering up all the fat she's lost
Done with the uni end of year event, left a bit early but I'm glad because I could really feel myself hitting a wall. Such a beautiful day to be out! Truly Goldilocks weather. And I was reminded there are some good and lovely people still on campus - despite the drama over the years and some meanies - and I'm glad to be working with them.
Gotta keep the positive energy going over the weekend but for tonight I'm just gonna blob out and sleep. Forked out for a short trip to go visit my mum while she's in WA in early Jan as I don't think she's gonna be happy visiting me in this cramped little hotbox. Two things to look forward to, yay!
Yay. Finally time to blob out and get some good rest in.
That’s great that you’re going to be able to see your mum soon.
I hope you have a great time when you go visit her.
Haha time with my mum is never exactly great, but it'll feel good to catch up with her because that'll make her happy. It will be at my aunty's place and she's always lovely and it's great to be around the two of them together. After mid Jan I won't have a chance to take any real time off until end June so I might ad well make the most of it
I've been looking at things to do in melbs and was considering a ferry ride to portarlington
looking at portarlington, other than eating and walking it's a really boring place . I will have no car so convince me otherwise.
it’s a really boring place
Yea have to agree there.
They do have a nice pier and quiet beach though.
Have a meal with some fellow DTers 🥰 Edit: I'd love to meet you and I'm sure I could rustle up a couple of compatriots to come with
How about a ferry ride to French Island - hire some bikes and tour the island or do birdwatching or something like. Can do it all on public transport if liked. The train from Frankston to Stony Point is charming and you get to see the interior of the Mornington Peninsula away from the highways etc. The ferry also goes to Philip Island, and there's stuff to see there and very good food available. I have to admit I really like French Island - the wildlife and birds are so very unafraid and very approachable to within photo distance.
Agree, I think French Island is much more interesting
If steam trains are your things, SteamRail Victoria run a thing called "Rail and Sail". Basically, you go one way on a steam train, and the other on a boat. You can choose either steam train there and boat back, or boat there and steam train back
The next one isn't until April 27th, but if that sounds interesting to you, you should do it! I'm pretty sure it includes transport from/to Portarlington, although I may be wrong
Finally the weekend.
Got test cricket to look forward to over the weekend and some animal crossing on the side.
I’m addicted!
Also got gifted some mini marsbars and kit Kats.
Going to have to becareful with them and not eat them all in one go.
I'm absolutely obsessed with Stardew, so I get the addiction 😂 they're just fantastic timesinks! Perfect for bumming around and chilling out to!
They’re such cozy games!
Do everything by my own time and work towards some small goals.
Only thing I hate though is my tools breaking so often and having to have items in my inventory to craft stuff.
Pfft. Don't give up. Your neighbour sounds like a CEO
Melbcat has just been chattering at the magpies through the screen door… Chicken on the wing! 🍗 One maggie was very confused and concerned to see me with a cat. As they thought I was an ally.
I’m doing right by both in keeping them separate
well that's annoying, i bought a six pack of mangos and every single one is brown inside
( I got a refund )
Fuck I hate making telephone calls. Even worse when they don't answer and it becomes a repeated procedure.
Trying to get TheVoid to do something photogenic in honour of the date. Pics pending.
My void has spent the morning napping in her fluffy pink cat bed. Neither photogenic, nor particularly alarming for the superstitious.
I have Kriek 🍒🍺Proost!
this might seem like a silly question, but does it taste super beer-y? I haven't met a beer I've liked (except that time I mistook CC and dry as beer), but this sounds interesting...
Oh no... Kriek doesn't have carbs.... Does it...?
Couldn't possibly. Utterly impossible. 🍒
I guess? I'd say tangy or zesty feels like a better word.
Today is proceeding. I wish it would proceed faster
Indeed!
Gaaaah. Microphone not working on calls, but works in every other app that uses it....gaaaah stupid buggy old pixel
Does the microphone on headphones work? I had an issue with an old phone where dust got in the sensor and the screen would never turn on during calls. I had to have a headset on me at all times so I could hang up
Beep Beep 🚚

Stupid dry skin on my hands ugh time to whip out the moisturiser 🙄
Edit: I like the Aveeno moisturiser, because it's fragrance free. The only thing is it's a tad oily, so I have to do a quick rinse of my hands so my hands don't feel weird lol
Peak winter and start of summer is when my hands look like cracked leather. My daughter told me off yesterday for it and gave me a tube of moisturizer.
aveeno is amaaazing. Lasts all freakin day and my go to after a day slinging gravel barehanded.
It is really nice!! I was gifted it and lasted me ages, when I run out I'll be getting it again for sho
having to sign up for amazon to make a christmas present happen is 🤮
BATS. Huge bats flying over my place every evening around sunset. They come from the big park where they nest in the Moreton Bay figs and fly to I don't know where. They have a strange alien way they flap their wings, as if the way birds fly is the only natural way to fly.
It's a strange phenomena, I look closely at the sky and I can't determine exactly when they become visible, they don't start as a tiny dot that becomes bigger, they start washed out and already big then get bigger and clearer. They appear one after the other.
Huge bats? Bruh. That’s what Batman WANTS you to think
I get bats vs possums in the sour cherry tree.
Couldn't make it down to the shops today, so I got the last of the stuff for the new house online from Kmart (onepass membership definitely making itself worth it, even better since I switched to an annual membership for half price around black friday). For some reason I find the idea of them posting me a washing basket and rubbish bin absolutely hilarious. Probably terrible for the environment, but also hilarious that they're probably paying $60 in shipping for my $40 in revenue
Quite possibly! But I dunno, my version of assassinating rich CEOs is costing Wesfarmers as much money for as little revenue as possible. I have had shit sent with that too, and it seems to drastically increase the likelihood of getting damaged in the post. In which case, I could get a refund and buy another, and go round and round in circles costing them more and more until they either get shitty at me, send it in a box, or it doesn't get broken. Haha, a boy can dream
new book came today, a book on the history and how to do italic writing, 100 pages of text about italic, who knew there was so much to know 😐
Ooo quick post before midnight!
2/10, I win this round
5/10
3.
I didn't know who half those people were.
3/10 today is not my day
4/10. Not even a pass.
3/10. All guesses.
3/10 - not my day either.
3/10, possibly a new low.
Oof 5/10, not great not terrible
Free coffee cart not open yet. Argh
YOOO IKEA has a secondhand, discontinued and ex-display category https://www.ikea.com/au/en/campaigns/a-second-chance-for-our-furniture-pub06dd9d21/
Might be worth checking from time to time
Edit: My one concern with returned items though would be bedbugs. Or hidden damage that could make something less safe. It’s a shame you probably can’t inspect before you buy
The note at the bottom of the page says that you can inspect before finalising purchase instore. Recommends it, in fact.
So you definitely get a chance to look it over. That’s really good then. Even minor repairs I could handle but I am picky about cleanliness.
I’ll definitely be lurking to see if there’s anything I might want
What a coincidence with today's date and the ghosts.
Ghostbusters 2 will be on tv tonight.
WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
Ghostbusters!!
Man, rice is the absolute best. Cheap, easy enough to make, can be used so many different ways, filling, goes with really anything savoury, easily flavoured. If you're having something you don't like, you can almost dilute it with rice as an unpleasant flavour neutraliser 😂
And if you like sweet - rice pudding is a classic. And can be fancied up almost infinitely.
These are the noises I can hear inside tonight:
I have a cat rolling a ball from the front door to the back door. I'd get up but I cannot be stuffed.
Motorbike revving noises send me, I’ve got a neighbour that owns multiple motorbikes. It’s just constant noises throughout the day- starting, revving, driving past. Sometimes very early. Shut it!
So long as it’s not the neighbours humping or having a domestic it could be worse.
Actually no the worst is an 18th with thumping bass.
I can assure you this has thumping bass
Too far away to hear people, even if they were yelling, somehow not far enough away to not hear "DNNZ-DNZZ-DNDNDNDNZZ" on repeat for an hour
Käärijä's new album, People's Champion, is fucking fire 🔥 certified bangers you can dance and get all sweaty to 🙌🏼 fuck yess!
Today's vintage LPs are "The Music of Arabia", "The Gaugin Years, music of Tahiti" and "Mariachi oro y plata"
Truly the Arabian music has such a good beat it makes me want to dance. 💃 And I think I will make a booking for Almazett in early Jan with some friends.
now I'm thinking of lamb shish kebab with proper tomato sauce and yoghurt 🤤
Fully aware that this is ridiculous, but there are 2 things that I'm afraid of (aside from the impending doom): spiders and zombies. To the point Zombie Taylor Swift gave me nightmares. But last night, I decided that I'd watch the 28 Years Later trailer, thinking if I watched it with no sound and in a tiny box, I'd be fine.
And I was! Thought it was cool and didn't give it another thought. Until bedtime... ::: spoiler spoiler Thought I could hear zombies in background of the rain sounds we listen to. Boyo twitched as he fell asleep and I (silently) freaked out. Tried to think about the upcoming trip and could only think about how Tokyo would be if something like that occurred while we were there. Was worried that the sensor light flickering on meant there were zombies coming into the back yard. Terrified if I got up to go the toilet during the night there would be a zombie in the house (this is a reoccurring thing anyway). :::
WHY BRAIN.
Sidenote: the movie looks so good. I wish I could watch it.
I have to say the new Wallace and Gromit movie is more my speed. This all looks way too scary for me.
Can't wait for that to come out.
🧟♂️They’re coming to get you , Barbara !🧟♂️
That's terrifying! I hate when horror movies and shows make me stay awake! I've desensitised myself over the years, as I love horror; supernatural mostly, I don't like ones based in reality as they do the same thing to me as you, cause nightmares and insomnia lol
The only way I can imagine zombies being real, is is rabies mutated and stopped before complete death. Which is unlikely I think, especially here as we don't have rabies (just lyssavirus up north), plus we're an island nation, so I imagine we could shut our borders (though COVID still came anyway). Plus the hydrophobia might make getting across bodies of water almost impossible for rabid-zombies. I class zombies in the supernatural category myself, along with ghosts, religious horror, etc.
Zombies don't scare me, the fungus zombies on Last of Us were terrible. ☹️
Zombies in folklore were from Haiti, victims of datura flower or ciguatera fish toxins poisoning which would basically wipe their frontal lobes. ( I read a book about it! ) Don't walk with bare feet guys, the poisoners sprinkled poison dust on the victim's door steps.
Bought myself one of those green and red leaf Christmas indoor plants. Spur of the moment whim. In a low mood and feeling low motivation. Hopefully it will magically help to cheer up the place. It’s happy looking plant.
Poinsettia!! Great holiday plant to improve the mood.
Good luck homey.
Great weather today, so Mabel decided to get cracking on some of those summer jobs of hers
That is adorable!
Oh, those are some excellent puppy eyes! I'd be unable to do anything other than obey her every whim!
No one is immune and she knows it too
That's fair. She knows she's gotta start pulling her weight!
It’s about time. She’s 9 months behind on rent (never paid a cent, actually) and keeps eating us out of house and home
