  That's a handprint on one of the many parts of a jet engine that get hot. Extremely hot
  
  The handprint. Whatever stuff gets transferred to the metal helps make it a little more hot and fucks with that nice 'rainbow titanium' kind of fade.

  Looks to be something that gets very hot, possibly an engine, possibly attached to an aircraft; and it seems that someone touched it before waiting for it to cool after use, leaving a probably very painful handprint.
