The reason Amber is a Chapo is that when she wants to she can make her points seem edgy and inflammatory.
There's one episode I remember where Amber was advocating something to the effect that the internet should be regulated exactly the same way China does it.
Will and Felix immediately balked and so did a lot of commentaries online.
I certainly didn't "like" hearing this, but the reason I didn't "like" it is because I have a unique relationship with the internet based on when I was born and the person that I am, the vast majority of people did not and do not use the internet to educate themselves. They did not seek out obscure knowledge and keep challenging themselves with materials they found freely online. For most people the internet is an environmentally wasteful extractive dopamine drip and plastic delivery service, and in that context Amber is 100% right that China is managing their internet better than the US.
The firewall really is perfect online policy. Keeps yer nan from going crazy over anti-vaccine nonsense, but also lets you into the "wilder" internet if you meet a minimum threshold of tech savvy to find and install a VPN.
