Claudia de la Cruz & Karina Garcia -(Vote Socialist this Tuesday) - New General Thread for the 4th-5th of November 2024
Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia are running for President and Vice-President of the United States on the ticket of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Claudia de la Cruz was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York to immigrant Dominican parents. As a teenager, she regularly participated in campaigns calling for an end to the U.S. blockade in Cuba and calling out police terror. While completing her degree in forensic psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a City University of New York college, de la Cruz helped create Palenque. Palenque was a group focused on bringing together young people to study the history of struggles and resistance by marginalized groups. During the Iraq War, de la Cruz organized some of these members as well as church members to rally against the war. She also helped found Da Urban Butterflies, a youth leadership development project for women from Washington Heights and the Bronx. Later on, de la Cruz co-founded The People’s Forum in New York City, a place dedicated to making space for working-class people. De la Cruz is also a mother and a pastor for the United Church of Christ, a Christian denomination that has historically been involved in social justice work.
Karina Garcia grew up in East Harlem, also known as El Barrio, in New York, as well as California. She attended Columbia University on a full scholarship and organized fellow students to speak out against the U.S. invasion of Iraq and to advocate for immigrant rights. After completing a degree in economics, Garcia became a high school math teacher in New York City. During that time, she advised a student group on issues like police brutality and school budget cuts. In 2012, she took up an organizing position at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice. She is also a mother and writer for Breaking the Chains, a feminist and socialist magazine under the PSL.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation is comprised of leaders and activists, workers and students, of all backgrounds. Organized in branches across the country, their mission is to link the everyday struggles of oppressed and exploited people to the fight for a new world.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation believes that the only solution to the deepening crisis of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society. Driven by an insatiable appetite for ever greater profits regardless of social cost, capitalism is on a collision course with the people of the world and the planet itself. Imperialist war; deepening unemployment and poverty; deteriorating health care, housing and education; racism; discrimination and violence based on gender and sexual orientation; environmental destruction—all are inevitable products of the capitalist system itself.
For the great majority of people in the world, including tens of millions of workers in the United States, conditions of life and work are worsening. There is no prospect that this situation can or will be turned around under the existing system.
The idea that the capitalists’ grip on society and their increasingly repressive state can be abolished through any means other than a revolutionary overturn is an illusion. Equally unrealistic are reformist hopes for a “kinder, gentler” capitalism, or solutions based on economic decentralization or small group autonomy. Meeting the needs of the more than 6.5 billion people who inhabit the planet today is impossible without large-scale agriculture and industry and economic planning.
The fundamental problems confronting humanity today flow from the reality that most of the world’s productive wealth—the product of socialized labor and nature—is privately owned and controlled by a tiny minority. This minority decides what will be produced and what will not. Its decisions are based on making profits rather than meeting human needs.
There are really only two choices for humanity today—an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism
I disabled a copilot feature in databricks because it was SO bad. Normally if your code has an obvious typo it'll just go "this function or variable name is wrong" and you'll fix it. Copilot would suggest changes, usually just fixing your typo, surprisingly often getting it wrong. What's annoying is that you have to accept or reject the change, it takes it longer than it takes me to notice it and start fixing it, so often I will fix the typo, it'll finish thinking, it'll revert my fix and suggest its own. I can't believe that someone though a slow, fancy spellcheck that stops your workflow so you can accept or reject a change was a good idea.
Listening to the Chapo election eve live episode with Episode One. It's crazy how unfunny the Chapo guys are in comparison, kind of similar to their DNC ep with Trueanon they're just not on the same level
My first ever attempt at cooking with TVP resulted in it being EXTREMELY SALTY! I carefully measured out everything else and then decided to wing it with the spices lmao, next time I won't do that.
Just for the record I am never more than a slight or two away from saying that the US deserves to be nuked to ash along with everyone in it (even me and you). When in living memory has anyone worth going that far out of one's way to save come out of this place?
This ended up really long, nerd shit, music, recording, raspberry pis, jellyfin, kodi, etc.
I don't like playing music via Jellyfin through the browser when recording cassettes (well, and in general, actually, unfortunately) since sometimes it stutters and there's weird gaps between tracks which can destroy recordings, so I've been copying files locally and using Elisa (it came with KDE) when recording to cassette, but it's buggy, plays the wrong tracks sometimes, and basically I can't use my laptop during recording (fear of stutter) and also a notification going off would be a real problem (I don't think messaging notifications add anything to a recording, sorry). I had an extra Pi 4 lying around, so I decided to experiment with dedicated remote controllable music player distros. (Also a dedicated player means I wouldn't have to swap cables when I like wanted to watch a YT video)
First I tried Volumio, but I hadn't even played a single file before I accumulated some gripes: (To be fair, my dad is a fan, so this is really just me being picky about software)
Long End User License Agreement that you must accept to use
Ublock Origin fucking lights up - apparently this local UI phones home to Facebook and Google Tag Manager, not something I want on my local network, even if I do block it, just not my ethos.
And finally, pushing features behind requiring an account (with multiple tiers, even!!) and a nag in the menu to that effect.
I didn't even let it get through scanning, because I found out there's a plausible alternative in https://moodeaudio.org/ . Looks like a frontend to MPD and a bunch of duct tape to support other stuff - I haven't done anything with MPD so I don't really know how to use it, but...
What I can say is that the UI is passable, maybe better than Jellyfin (and Jellyfin casting from browser to a remote device is pretty finnicky for me since Kodi/JellyCon will just disappear from the list and need a reboot, and it never really felt recording-worthy since Kodi always feels a bit finnicky to me due to various factors). Since I'm recording cassettes, there's a limited amount of space on each side and I'm trying to jam in an entire album, so there's a lot of "is this above 44 minutes?" checking. Luckily I can use a somewhat hidden "Queue Info" button when I'm building and it'll show me the entire duration of the current playing queue, then I can copy it out to a playlist per side, reorder things using the kind of dialog I'd design because I'd be too lazy to implement drag and drop lol. Yeah in my browser it's not smooth or intuitive but I fuck with this, it works, I tolerate it.
I was able to set it up to access my SMB/CIFS (w/e) share with all the music, scanning took a fuckton of time (to be fair it's like 30k tracks and 500+GB, and over wi-fi and I'm above the garage), but there are no gaps or stutters in playback, and it detected my USB DAC just fine, so the audio quality is great. And I can disable the volume slider too (pet peeve is accidentally leaving it lowered and wondering why output is so quiet all of a sudden). So that's pretty cool. I haven't had a buffer underrun yet (feels inevitable since it's grabbing files from a network share over wifi) but I'm sure it'll happen, and it'll ruin a recording lmao. Worst case I'll use a USB stick since it supports local media too (and you can control buffer size in the settings too, so I guess that's an option)
Back when I upgraded both of my LibreELEC installs to use a Pi 5 (this made such a huge difference to performance and responsiveness, even though I'm still using SD cards, and I would recommend JellyCon over the Kodi Jellyfin Plugin with Artic Zephyr Reloaded which has a main menu editor to integrate it more directly into Kodi and prevent db corruption... it's a pain to configure, but it becomes seamless after a while, ask me about how long my 2 fucking nvidia shields lasted if you want to know why I went this route) I was thinking I didn't really have a use for the old ones, just kept one of them and gave the rest to my dad. I finally have a use for it, so that's pretty great.
I was originally planning on doing a headless server and using the CLI to generate playlists but honestly a UI is just better than trying to craft m3u files myself - easy to be like "ok play this directory, terminal" but not easy to be like "select exactly these 8 tracks in this order and put that into a playlist and also tell me how long the total length is and maybe i'll add more tracks etc." it would be a whole thing to try to script this, and I have enough silly scripts already.
edit: apparently Cantata has a pretty usable UI and I can just connect to the mpd server lol, sick, it shows cumulative durations in more places
Was gonna vote for obama but it was time for all the libs to get off work and vote and the only voting site had a tiny ass parking lot and i dont care enough to go through that
I started the Penguin, and just ended up watching Sopranos instead. The mob is all about hanging out with your pals. The Penguin is barely about hanging out with your pals. Not a real mob show, get it out of here. (I'm sure it's fine)
Back in the day there used to be this USA RPG game called Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator, I remember it being ok but really slow. But that game has a weird mix of Fallout 1/2 with Final Fantasy, I just wish there were more RPG Games with this art style.
Someone using their phone mount to hold their phone as they scrolled through Instagram while driving
A moving truck? Or some other boxy truck covered in screens advertising an election day sale. I know they were screens and not just painted on because they were glowing
3 lifted pickup trucks driving in a line, the first one had a giant trump statue in the back where he's in a black and white prison suit and sitting on a toilet, the second and third had Harris flags
Learning from my previous mistake and texting my crush the day before our date instead of the day of.
She had pointed it out to me when we went on our first date. As much as I had wanted to I just got into a whole 'let me not bother her too much' mode of thinking.
She's working right now so we haven't had much chance to talk about the date that we tentatively setup for tomorrow. If we don't really iron out the details tonight we can tomorrow since we work together. I figure it might work out a bit better that way since I want to make sure she isn't too tired. Honestly I wouldn't want to be tto tired either lol.
Despite its evidently restricted character, the [Soviet] elections in 1937 were perceived by many ordinary people as an opportunity to participate in framing a new constitutional order. The turnout reached 96.8 per cent of the electorate. Some ballots were spoilt. In one district 97 per cent of votes cast were valid, the remainder defaced in some way, or the candidate’s name erased. In Novosibirsk region the name ‘Trotsky’ was written in on one ballot, ‘I am voting for the heavenly Tsar’ on another, and ‘We are not voting’ on a third.⁹
The job I would have liked and I was qualified for hasn't gotten back to me and it's been a month. Time to put away faintest glimmer of hope and go back to it's so over mode.

Thanks to work circumstances I now have half of the meetings that I used to. So most of my days are now actually free to do code which is something I haven't done in months. I can't believe how much less stressful it is.
some 23 year old at a Halloween party told me i was "too old for situationships" when my dating life came up in casual conversation, and frankly.....i........listen here..........
it was the same night a woman called me fabulous for my dance moves, though. so you win some, you lose some.
got a job offer with another agency in the city that's within walking distance of my house. the hiring process has seemed all over the place though, and rumors of understaffing have me wary. i also know i like most of the people here save one or two (and a nightmare direct manager, but they've been leashed by my director....for now). current job is also fairly cushy for the field, decent chunk of public facing work but a decent chunk of dicking around in an office. this new job would be less boring but (very probably) more stressful (more "in the community," for better and worse). i also hate the neighborhood i work in right now.
aaaaaaaaah what do i do what do i do what do i do. there are many pros and cons on both sides...
my family's kind of always been ahead of the curve on not hewing and crying over the dresden bombing bcs my grandad was an RAF pilot who supposedly took part in it and he took a very clear "the kraut's deserved it" line on the matter
i know my bosses would like me to do actual work when i'm at my desk but truly i only desire to pal around with my chapo chat pals and occasionally do a speck of creatively oriented word-scrivening
I came across a post about solving the death note case and got annoyed that I couldn't find my favorite take on it; it was from here! @CascadeOfLight@hexbear.net your tiny piece of crossover fanfic is forever embedded in my brain.
you know, I have to wonder, as this opsessive constant droning greed driven inflation on goods and flatlining of wages year on year increases, what the fuck are the AAA gaming studios gonna do? CoD 6 is seventy great british pound stering, that's more than my wife and I spend on food for 2 adults in a week! that's just a price I could never justify on a single game especially as the monotonous multiplayer is the core of that experience; I get a shooter or I feed myself for an entire week is not a tough choice. then you consider these games are worse value for money than ever with shallow content offerings. like, what is the plan here for them? ofc as with all capitalists rn it is short termist suck as much blood from the ecosystem until it dies, but as of right now we're profitable so who cares?
at some point, they're going to be forced to realise there is a level of price elasticity of demand that has diminishing returns
Fuck it just asked my work crush/friend out for dinner tomorrow, maybe I'll reveal my feelings. That'll distract me from the election no matter the outcome of the reveal
I was searching Youtube for an art movie from 2009 that I was hoping someone had illegally uploaded there, the autofiction/documentary film Perestroika by Sarah Turner, because the only way I can find to watch it is by buying a booklet from a Lonon-based art museum that includes a DVD of the film. It's only £7, which is $9. But they have a £28 international shipping fee. I'm broke so $45 is way too much money for me to spend on a 115 minute long art film I've never seen before. And then the DVD will probably have regioning issues that would be a pain to sort out.
So anyway, I type "Perestroika 2009 sarah turner" into Youtube and the first result is a playlist titled "sex" with 167 videos, the first of which is a Mexican film from the '70s called EL TIGRE DE SANTA JULIA. The next result is another playlist titled "a film" with 23 foreign films, one of which is by Paolo Passolini. And the third result is a video titled "Brie Larson Braless No Bra" uploaded by a channel named "Celebrities Braless."
Disappointed but persevering I modified my search to "Perestroika sarah turner." The first result was an interview with Sarah Turner. Still disappointing, but we're moving in the right direction. The second result was "Brie Larson Braless No Bra" by the same channel as before.
It's just weird. For one thing I don't watch erotic content on YouTube, it rarely serves these sorts of results up for me. The only time I see this stuff is when I get my once yearly urge to watch bushcrafting videos which always gives me videos that have a thumbnail of a naked woman in the woods with titles like "How I stay warm in Siberia," mixed in with the normal videos. For another, from what I can see Perestroika is not an erotic film. And based on her website it seems like Sarah Turner's work doesn't deal with eroticism at all. I can only guess that the word perestroika is throwing off YouTube's algorithm, giving me the sort of results it might serve to a non-english speaking user?
Pacific Drive Radio Soundtrack actually sounds better recorded on cassette than my digital copy imo, good vibe, today I'm loving Los Angeles (the track), but Puzzle Pieces is a close second cuz it's in my vocal range and the lyrics are kinda sweet :3 (also recording tapes is a lot of work but i love it, even when the stupid glossy J thingy won't take to any of my pens and I hurt my wrist trying to do the track listing, lol)
i love this album (here's a playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnF67y5vNQETIXmLg3Kes717M9vfDhqtV ) and i listen to it so much, I also really vibe with Doctor Juice and The Freeze, but not all of the tracks are my favourite. I think the radio soundtrack was my favourite part of the game.
Not to mess with the lathe, but with the way my boss and other people in my company are becoming increasingly tech bro brain poisoned (and taking 10 minute lunches), I can see a reality where workers use fucking feeding tubes
It sounds really, really absurd, but these people are obsessed with productivity to a terrifying degree. Damn I wish I had a union
Youtube has been flooded with political ads this month (and before you say it, I watch youtube on my TV sometimes so I can't skip with adblocker).
I think the funniest one is where they get a bunch of pudgy thumb cops to talk about how weed KILLS CHILDREN, so you should against it. Because if anyone is going to be honest to you about weed, it's cops.
Boeing IAM voted to accept the most recent contract, so the strike is officially over. They got a good enough deal, Boeing obviously could and should provide more but it’s a solid contract.
All of the people coming out of the woodwork to smugly say variations of “Pensions are gone, y’all need to get back to work” will be forever seared in my mind.
I noticed that when Bill Evans is doing the block chords he's not really acrobatic melody wise.
Bill evans starts his solo with small measure long phrases.
It's building really slowly, and he'll shrink back before he builds too much.
This time I decided to focus on what the larger form is:
8 Bar Pseudo Latin Intro
Head in, melody stated twice.
7 Choruses of Bill Evans soloing
Philly Joe takes up the first three measures of Bill's solos but that's a normal Philly thing. Bill is doing little one measure phrases and not playing lines. Sam Jones is always making the 9th measure clear, outlining the form.
The phrases start getting longer.
Bill Evans plays a little phrase that repeats multiple times throughout the piece.
The solo starts picking up here in intensity. The lead into the next chorus is definitely noticeable
The second half of this chorus he plays soemthing that he'll repeat going into the trading section with Philly Joe
critical support to dushanbe city employees taking 1 million dollars from the asian development bank and proceeding to not meet a solitary target set by the investors
improved knowledge and skills in corporate governance, utility management, and public–private partnership (2022 baseline: 0)
yeah hows about i go back to tightening water pipes instead of listening to you blowhards about PPP
Completely owned a lib in person for the first time yesterday and it felt really good. I don’t think he’s changing his views at all but I at least had to stop and make him think before he spewed forth more CIA Propaganda. It was fun.
Doing the old bait and switch on my coworker by getting him into audio dramas via The Left/Right Game (like 10 episodes), waiting until he said he likes the format, then telling about the Magnus Archives (200 episodes), in hopes of getting him to listen to the spin off, the Magnus Protocol, which is currently on a break before the next season and will have over 100 episodes
We need more discssion about how the American "parties" aren't really political parties at all, but more like fan clubs for a subset of utterly unaccountable politicians, and how the party structure is not only a top down structure where the actual members, the political and donor class, demand fealty from the fan-club members but are not in any way under the control of the fan club.
Like afaik the parties have very little structure and there just isn't a mechanism for party members to control, whip, recall, or otherwise maintain control over senior party members and electeds.
Like afaik, the rank and file cannot
eject members from the party
force electeds to resign
beat electeds in to compliance with the party
Or anything else at all. It's completely one way - money and volunteer time and noospheric meta-submission flow up, shit rolls down.
There really aren't many ways in which the us political system has any democratic features, but this, where the state itself is in the control of two political cliques, at least one of whom has no accountability to it's membership and arguably has no rank and file membership, is one of the bad ones.
how do you have a mental breakdown if you dont have friends who you are close enough to to bother them with it and you dont feel like bothering your parents
telling libs i'm not voting because i don't have a civic duty because i'm a second class citizen in this country because i'm not a business owner, a landlord, or a car
PLEASE VOTE PSL IF YOU CAN!! PLEASE IM BEGGING PLEASE, ITS THE EASIEST THING SOME OF YOU CAN TO TO SUPPORT THE SOCIALIST CAUSE!!!!! PLEASE IF WE MAKE A DENT, THE LIBERALS WILL LOSE THERE SHIT, IMAGINE HOW GREAT THAT WILL BE GANG.
Has just been overhauled and rebuilt alongside our entire recruitment process. The most frequent complaint by far I've heard about on Hexbear is applying and then never hearing back. The party, nationwide, is aware of this problem and has created new internal systems to ensure that doesn't happen anymore. It was a result of the old systems being sufficient for a smaller party, but the amount of interest in the party is much higher now than it ever was. Now, we should be far better able to the amount of incoming membership applications and move people into the formal candidacy or at-large process faster and more reliably.
dropping my partner and I's ballots for PSL today.
first time they've been actually on the ballot as a choice not write-in
some "democracy" we live in lol. usually where i'm at the mid term ballots are mostly all uncontested choice between a person and a write in that doesn't exist
recording a cassette for the first time in like 25 years, and like, um holy shit cassettes are hi-fi actually, I picked Mahler's 1st symphony as a stress test due to the dynamic range, and a new old stock SA90 I bought from a local record store, and uh theres more hiss in the digital recording (since I think its a remaster of an old recording, Bernstein conducting, my favourite version of this symphony) than on the tape. I can't even tell the difference when A/B ing digital source (ripped from CD) vs tape. I have sone prerecorded tapes and they had tons of noise. Like my copy of Justice - Justice is missing the entire top end compared to digital, but clearly thats just the tape, because it is indistinguishable in the one I'm recording now.
I wish there was a Sailor Moon Mugen game with all the characters (specially the villains). Usually Sailor Moon fangames only focus around the first season or the main Sailors.
trying to quit solo drinking again, at least for a bit. lets see if i eat shit again.
one good thing for it is reading though. form of media consumption that drinking makes difficult. nearing the finish line of 2666 in fact! started in march 2023 lolololololol
Based on their previous comment that they enjoyed our walk, I copied their suggestion but just with us two. As we were about to leave, I said “I’m going for a walk now, do you want to join?” They said they were tired and had to do piled up chores, which is fair and in character, but also a good generic always available excuse. They gave me a powerful hug which felt like it came a little too unexpectedly to be a formal goodbye hug, but then we did say goodbye, so who knows…
Hi everyone! I'm so thrilled at the positive reception for Claudia & Karina this upcoming election day. I'd like to say that if you've voted or plan to vote for Claudia & Karina this election season (or for Stein/Ware or West/Abdullah in participating cooperation agreement states) you can enter your reasons on this map HERE!
Join us this year in putting Socialism on the Map.
I fucking hate hate hate giant pickup trucks. They're a huge percentage of the vehicles on the road here and they almost never get used for pickup truck things. It's so rare that I see one with anything in the bed that it's a notable event.
They're just mega sized luxury SUVs with oversized engines that are towing around what is essentially a trailer, all the time. Except they kill a bunch of kids because they have flat grilles that create a giant blind spot in front.
Even worse is the payload capacity competition. It's not enough to have a big ass truck, it's gotta be one of the 7.2 liter powerstroke, super duty, lariat, king ranch, xlt, Laredo sport power wagons. It also has to have dual tires and a giant class 5 trailer hitch with 3 balls. If it doesn't have a lift kit and knobby mud tires, well, you just aren't a manly man anymore.
The people that own them are the worst drivers, too. Always tailgating, taking wide turns into the oncoming lane, never fitting it into a parking spot. They gotta rev the engine big at traffic lights, because it's really impressive that you can angle your foot 25 degrees.
Monkeys will never write Shakespeare. One representative of the monkey union is quoted as saying that the monkeys are currently working on original art, rather than derivative works. "If humans want to waste their meager lives recreating works that already exist they're free to do so"
The monkey union's contract is due to expire in march of 2025. Current priorities are stated as raises to match the cost of living, restricting AI use only to tasks deemed as "human work", and a second 15 minute banana break in the workday.
me and my gf voted for Claudia. We like to take the train into the city sometimes and I kept pointing out all the Claudia and Katrina posters on lightpoles saying like, this is who im voting for and here are all are PSL's policies and my gf was really receptive to them.
she wouldnt announce herself as a communist but I'm outspokenly one and she is always like wow I never heard someone say it like that before when I explain things to her.
Last year we went to this xmas tree lighting thing in the city and PSL was doing a pro Gaza protest and she was really receptive with what they were saying and then she started getting mad at all the people being upset by people being annoyed with the protesters. after we saw the tree lighting we went and talked to some PSL members and they were so nice to us and down to talk and answer her questions and now she loves Claudia and holds the same beliefs even if she cant articulate them as well
when we got home we saw on the news "LOCAL PRO TERRORIST GROUP TRIES TO SHUT DOWN TREE LIGHTING" and we laughed about how the news lies to your face
I'm actually really proud of myself today. I went into work yesterday and asked all the bartenders to refuse to serve me alcohol. It was really hard, but in my logical mind, I never want to drink again and want to make it as hard as possible to ever drink again. I have an appointment to get on Naltrexone next week, everything is slowly coming together for me and I'm really happy about it.
My life has gotten so much better since I left my ex's house. I'm not in constant fear of having to mask around her, and it makes such a big difference. The other night, I realized just how badly I was stuck in my old habits because of her abuse and I'm so glad to be finally working past it. I have so much to offer the world outside of my PTSD and I'm finally in the spot to realize that. Really happy this week
Good intentions don't always mean my viewpoint is wanted or necessary, and others who relate more can speak up just fine. I know this is common sense, but I've been real bad about this lately and think I've annoyed or frustrated others.
Course, I could be misreading it, but it's better to shut the fuck up sometimes. Could be internal chauvanism, could be genuine good intentions, don't trust myself for now. Need to read and listen more, and speak less.
Anyone know of some good resources (books, podcasts, articles, etc.) that discuss food planning and the food system under capitalism, particularly in the US? Marxist and leftist sources preferred obviously but willing to learn from libs if they know their shit :p
Been trying to keep food budget at 20 bucks a week what recipes you guys have
Atm I got chickpea shakshuka, creamy garlic chickpeas, curry of all kinds, canned sardines mustard style and rice, grits, peanuts, jamaican style mackerel and rice.
I dont count seasoning and sardines cost cuz they just magically show up in my pantry somehow. Im trying to find more recipes that are based around onions, canned tomatoes, and peppers too.
We voted last week (PSL), able to do early voting for the first time this year. First time voting for 3rd party for both of us. So I have nothing to do on the 5th. I have the day off (medical appointment) so I can just fuck off for most of the day instead of being stuck at work.
So who certifies the election if the current VP is also the winner? Does the VP confirm their own victory?
Hmmm is my depressed ass going to the boardgame club this evening or is my depressed ass going to get two beers and a frozen pizza and sit at home being depressed instead
Any other autistics in the corporate world with power? Like not technically a manager but a team lead or point of contact. How do you navigate it all? I feel like I've been getting snippy lately and it's been harder to mask.
I took a break from my org for the past year. Now I'm back, and it seems a lot of the most active members have left and the org is facing a reckoning for its future.
I might have to do something I really don't want to do and step up and become important. But I am very scared
Finished Episode 6 of HxH its pretty good, i love how weird is hisoka; i wonder how he erased that dude's arms, love the friendship between killua and gon
Both kurapika and leorio shared their backstories while running, both in a way victims of capitalism. I like how the plot is shaping out to be. I liked the mist and cooking arc netero is cool
Should have been as obnoxious as the libs the past 6 months and say that anyone who didn't want to vote for these two "was racist and misogynistic because they just didn't want two WOC as President and VP", lol
That's how to run a campaign, not promises, just shaming and bullying, probs. We'll see on Tuesday
No current struggle session discussion here on the new general megathread, i will ban you from the comm and remove your comment, have a good day/night :meow-coffee:
I tried making horchata and it came out kinda mid. I know whatever little shops just use a mix but I have never had a mix come out well. What is the actually stuff I should be getting?
Also got my next draft set up. This one is crazy long. To even fit it onto 2 papers I had to combine blocks of 20 turns that all turn in one direction into 5 lanes of 4 turns
Its based off of this belt Amleth is wearing in the Northman when he's disguised as a Rus slave. This was the best screenshot I could get of the belt and though there are several articles on the historical costuming they did for production there were no tablet weaves to look at closely or patterns. So I had to eye it from a few pixels lmao.
Heres what the pattern looks like on the draft. I think I got it, this should look close to the final belt, gonna have to make it super long to get it to wrap around a persons waist twice with some long tail ends like Amleth has in the screenshot.
very strangely i couldn't look up the daffy duck ceremony, the internet seems to think it happened in 2004 but there was a sign in the picture
honestly i don't believe the danish one i was so off from the date genuinely was from 1912, there were only automobiles in the road and the women were wearing smallbrim/no brimmed hats characteristic of at least the 20s and into the 30s.
Day 147: Have scraped most of the moss off the walls, and eaten it to regain what little strength the strange growth will provide. This pit seems to go on forever, and despite the abundance of gamer crud on the upper levels I had taken to help supplement the few rations I had managed to secure, these deeper levels provide far less in terms of edible material.
It also seems that whenever I do find time to rest between downward treks, some sort of creature has been eating what Ive not secured on my person.
I hear whispers some nights, they tell me that a "Hexagonal bear" is at the bottom. I fear I may have delved too deep into the pit. I cannot turn back now.
I'm thinking about buying my dad a few books for xmas to make him stop being an MSNBC turbo lib. on my list are Blackshirts and Reds, Inventing Reality, The Jakarta Method, and NATO's Secret Armies: Operation GLADIO and Terrorism in Western Europe. I might throw in Eye Of The Chickenhawk but that one made me go insane. any other suggestions?
I made a real quick test strap to try out 3/1 twilling and man is that shit confusing. The smaller strap on top was my starting point, just a complete mess, but eventually I got it and started a new strap along the same warp anx it turned out great. Its a bit small, its only just fits around my head so its no belt, but it was good practice. and it was so small with only 10 cards that set up was way easier than normal. Started and finished it over the weekend which is the fastest Ive ever finished a project.
The back is also cool. You can see how the pattern reverses both in color and the direction the individual "blocks" of thread go, so the smooth 45° slopes become checkerboards that flow in the same direction as their front, but the triangles just flip color.
I'm on PC but for the longest time I've used an Xbox 360 controller, that thing broke and all I have now is a Nintendo Switch controller. Which works fine but it's so awful how the A/B/X/Y buttons are diagonally mirrored between the two. The X and Y are swapped and the A and B buttons are swapped, so when an input on screen reads A my fingers instinctively press B. It's super confusing.
I Hate James Dobson just full libbed out with "vote for the one who gets you closer to the world you want, fighting and organizing will be harder under Trump!" As if the last fucking year hasn't happened, no mention of Palestine at all, just baffled anger and disappointment on my end. This stupid election is like the fucking blood moon, it just draws out the worst and most selfish in people who should know better
