What a long winding road we travel, to make absolutely no progress on our journey.
In one sense, it is quite good that in this particular case we have made zero progress:-).
My cynicism agrees that unfortunately the genie is out of the bottle and this has only one direction of progression.
I don’t think Earth was ever in any danger.
Yeah I think it's really counterproductive, same thing with the climate crisis, we don't need to save the planet but our own asses!
Humans, and other, more evolved animals survived the Cuban missile crisis.
