For me it was fine. I really like Tales of Arise, seeing it get a DLC was a surprise for me. And Final Fantasy VII stuff is always good for me. At the start i though...hmm maybe not game for me but i'm happy with the games at the end.
I had the same thoughts about Avatar and Far Cry. Especially with the campaign coop. Hopefully it'll be more like FC 3 and 5, and less of 6. There are things about the FC formula I like, but others I don't.
The Spider-Man video's theme was so uninteresting to me. It's been five years since the first game, whose open world was already derivative of tired tropes (towers, collectibles, repeat activities, etc.), and the video was advertising how they've just...combined their existing ideas to slightly refine the original formula.
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to play the hell out of the game. I loved the first game enough that they could have changed nothing to the core gameplay and just made a new story and I'd play it through 4-5 times again like the original. But the activities within the open world was one of its weakest components, and it doesn't sound like they've done anything interesting with it.
Not bad overall.
I was hoping for a release date for RE4 VR, but I guess I'll keep Feb '24 in mind and we'll see. I definitely wasn't expecting a DLC for Tales of Arise!
FF VII Rebirth still looks awesome and it's nice to have a confirmed release date, if anything.
I was also expecting more PSVR2 news/reveals, oh well.
Meh. Excited for Spider-Man and Avatar but they aren’t new. I guess I was hoping for a new AAA reveal our at least an update on some we haven’t heard of in a while (Wolverine). Also kind of disappointed in the lack of PSVR2 reveals.
Yeah, we really need to hear from first party studios. My guess is that they want to make sure they don't muddy the waters this close to spiderman. Spiderman is set to sell massive volume. We aren't going to hear a peep of anything next until after launch.
I think it's all to do with expectations as well to be fair.
Sony clearly said this waa an Indie and third-party studio State of Play. So being disappointed you didn't hear from first party studios doesn't make a lot of sense...
