There's already one European founded research project near this one, in Soultz-sous-Forêts (Alsace, France) which is active, but missing new founding I think.
And now they will have a permit to collect lithium which makes you think that a new project could be a way to have a permit to dig and then make it easier to have a licence to collect lithium, which is more profitable.
Strange comparison. Nuclear energy produces electricity where as geothermal turns that electricity into heat with great efficiency. It still needs electricity that needs to be produced by some other means.
