I would like to add that it's kinda rare for an United-stasian cartoon to put the Brazilian flag in a "bunch of world flags" scene. Damn, they went that far into putting it in the middle of the screen! That's unusual!
(Mark my words, we will take over the world soon enough /jk)
In the movie Winter Kills (1979) John Huston's character, before plummeting from a skyscraper to his death, he says to Jeff Bridges' character:
You get out of this alive, son-
You get out of this alive.
Take our money out of the western world and put it in South America.
Oh!
Brazil. Ah!
Aah!
Brazil! They're the next ones up!
Also this movie is shockingly good, 10/10 recommend from me won't spoil anything.
I love when shows have subtle nods to show their support for these things rather than having to draw as much attention as possible to how progressive they are being
I misunderstood the line that says "O Brasil se soma a uma lista de mais países que reconhecem o Estado Palestino,(...)Reconhecendo também a Organização para a Libertação da Palestina (OLP), desde 1975 como "legítima representante do povo palestino"." as meaning we've recognised the state of Palestine officially since '75
Apparently, according to the govbr site OP linked in reply to me above, stuff is a bit more complicated than that but ye.
It's possible, but even at that level of detail it would have been trivial to add a white dot and elongate the red triangle. I'm thinking they intended it to be Palestine.
Wow, really horrifying how you can see the spasms of violence since 2004 in the frequency bunching of these recognition dates. Like, you can tell shit went down in 2011 and 2024
The second image in the lead is showing the list of countries who recognised Palestine after the episode in question. Based on the title, you need the list of countries who recognised before.
Historically the US have been a safe flace for the jewish community fleeing inquisition, nazism etc. That means that there is a really big jewish community in the US, which makes.it recognizing palestine an unpopular politic choice.
Edit: when not even people "outside" of the problem can dabate it's very hard to strive for peace. I am not american nor jewish. I wasn't givi g an opinion I was only stating a fact as of why the US as many of it's alies are not on tbe list. That's a fact regardless of your opinion. I don't support anyone. gosh
Hi, jewish american here. I recognize Palistine, and I have a hard time understanding why "safe for jews" and "recognizing palistine" are mutually exclusive. Could you elaborate on that? Just so you know any answer involving Isreal I'm just going to call antisemetic since conflating jews and Isreal is antisemitic in the same way conflating China and chinese people is racist.
