First-time homebuyers in Oregon get $30K grant — but American citizens aren’t eligible
First-time homebuyers in Oregon are getting $30,000 grants to purchase homes — but the grants only go to “people who are not American citizens.”
This sounded outrageous so I checked their website: https://www.haciendacdc.org/news-updates/statement-from-hacienda-community-development-corp-ceo-1
Supposedly you need 2/5 criteria to be eligible, and only one of those includes citizenship, so American citizens do qualify if they meet 2/4.

I'm not "digging" up anything.
What reason would I have to lie about the state of things in the country? I'm not part of that news organization anyway.

The funds come from the state’s tax-funded Economic Equity Investment Program, a program that aims to build economic equity for disadvantaged people, which allocated a $692,775 grant to Hacienda.

There are bigger issues to worry about.
