Context - In Vampire:The Masquerade, 99% of Vampires are self serving manipulative bastards. The Salubri were different, a clan of healers that were Embraced for their selflessness. They were generally the only genuinely chill bloodsuckers around, until the middle ages.

The Tremere were originally mages, who stole vampirism to gain immortality. They targeted and genocided the Salubri, as they were mostly lovers and not fighters, and then started a wildly successful propaganda campaign to paint them as soulstealers. Most modern Tremere weren't around for that, so they've only ever drank the Kool-Aid and have been taught to exterminate Salubri on-sight.
