  • Just logged into my new Lemmy, after also being in the sweet sweet frying pan of 🥓 To see this as basically the first post on my new news feed does feel good to be honest. I hope the migration goes well for us all!

  • Shit man, BaconReader was the first Reddit app I downloaded. I eventually settled on RiF but this is just sad.

    Fuck spez.

  • I feel bad for these devs. I’m sure they’ll be fine but some of them have been maintaining their apps for a decade plus. You get attached to your code after that long.

  • In terms of sheer hours of use, buying the ad-free version of the app 10 or 11 years ago now was probably the best value purchase I've ever made. RIP BaconReader, it's been a wonderful journey. :(

  • I used BaconReader on Android before I used Apollo on iPhone. It was a great app at the time I used it. Yet another app succumbing to corporate greed. Sadge.

  • Boost was my app of choice. As with others in the community, I launched the rocket (donated money) to say goodbye. It's honestly weird and bittersweet, I really like Lemmy but I'm going to miss Boost for Reddit. Fuck u/spez.

    • I just saw that Boost for Lemmy was announced!

      • That's great news! I thought that the dev for Boost wasn't going to work on a Lemmy version, seeing this in the app store makes me feel a good deal better.

  • BaconReader was one of the first Android apps I paid money for, IIRC. It was that good of an experience on mobile way back when.
