I know I am likely decades away from having proper health insurance and proper cash flow to even consider getting FFS and likely will never happen, but I am still curious what exactly and how do you really figure out what you need exactly and how it will look once fully healed.
Honestly, it's pretty generic. A chance for the doctor to answer basic questions, a talk about your goals and wants from the surgery etc. The main goal is for the surgeon who will be doing the work to get a look at you so they can get an understanding of what they need to do. It will let them tell you which options will be most effective, which ones won't be so useful if you're trying to keep costs down etc.
