Maduro is declared winner in Venezuela’s presidential election as opposition claims it prevailed
The outcome of the polls will either lead to a seismic shift in politics or extend by six more years the policies that caused the world’s worst peacetime economic collapse.
“The Venezuelans and the entire world know what happened,” opposition candidate Edmundo González said in his first remarks.
Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said the margin of González’s victory was “overwhelming” based on voting tallies it had received from campaign representatives from about 40% of ballot boxes nationwide.
If they do not want Venezuela to become a bloodbath, a fratricidal civil war produced by the fascists, let us guarantee the greatest success, the greatest electoral victory of our people," he [Maduro] said at a rally.

Authoritarian populism knows no political party
This is what I find so mind boggling of a concept for people not to understand. If a politician is crooked it's not because the political party he's in, he's just corrupt.
Most Latinos I know hate the Democrats because they are pro socialism and these Latinos come from countries where 1. Socialism = Communism, and 2. Their corrupt political party is self labeled Communist. So these Latinos make the destinction that Democrats are corruot for their socialist views.
